Your wedding DVD...any problems?
I just wanted to ask a general technology question regarding DVDs and burning etc. We have an older DVD player and it plays our wedding DVD just fine.
However, on newer DVD players (such as the two my DH's family has and their family in Florida) - they don't play all the way through. we've tried all our copies on all the DVD players/
The DVD freezes at some points or don't read it at all (says please remove/can't read disk).
Did anyone ever have a problem like this and how did you fix it?
We're just afraid that one day our DVD player will break and we won't ever get to watch it again - and thousands would be wasted too!
Thanks for your help

Re: Your wedding DVD...any problems?
I just bought a Blu-Ray DVD player and have no issues with a "regular" DVD, including my wedding video.

mine was skipping, freezing etc...I dont know if its bc its old or new dvd players but I made them make me vhs's as well. FM me who you used. I think it would be funny if it was the same company. I personally think its their fault and they need to learn how to do the videos. Mine is a mess as well.

If you used Duet, call them and let them know. They will give you a new copy in another version.

Re: Your wedding DVD...any problems?
The same thing happened to my DVD - on our 2 year anniversary when we sat down to watch it - it skipped, stopped, etc.
On my parents' DVD player and computer though it played fine. They sent us a new one and I still haven't watched it to make sure it's ok (that was 9 months ago! ).

I'd call your video person and let them know. That doesn't seem right.

Re: Your wedding DVD...any problems?
yup! there are two different kinds of DVDs... DVD+R and DVD - R... i forget which is newer and which is older, but they have problems if they are in newer or older players. i only know this because my friends dad who did our video for us gave us copes of it on both types since he wasn't sure what kind of DVD player we had..... i would call them, and they'll probably make you another one in the "right" type

Same thing with Patken. Ours stopped working, and they gave us a new one.

Re: Your wedding DVD...any problems?
We have the same problems with our DVDs. There is actually a label on the inside of my video that says it may not play in all types of DVD players. When it starts to skip we just FF and then it starts to go again. It annoying but what are you gonna do? I think that's the case with all burned DVDs.

Re: Your wedding DVD...any problems?
I have the same exact problem....we have to always watch it on the cheap, older DVD player and not the new high tech one we just purchased with the new, big, TV. Why is this? I hate it!!!

They're just different formats, not newer/older. It is true that some players only like one type. Most handle both types since they are both so prevalent.
If you can read it on a computer (or if you also have a DVD writer), you should be able to copy it to a new DVD. You could also give out copies of the DVD to family members that way as well.

Re: Your wedding DVD...any problems?
Thanks for your input everyone. We did contact the company and he sent out new ones for us - which was great - but DH just gave them to his family to try (again) and they said it STILL FROZE! I don't know what to do...but DH keeps saying that this needs to be fixed - but I just don't know what to say - I mean, if it was a format difference I think he'd try to fix that on the 2nd set....I'll see what DH wants to do
