I am not 100% sure but I believe the shake and pour if for the bisquick pancakes which might be a little different than the buttermilk baking mix but I am sure it would work.

You can just use flour, you don't have to use bisquick. In fact I prefer it with flour.

I wouldn't use shake and pour for a recipe. I believe shake and pour, you just add water?

There is a big difference in the taste, IMO.

If you just use flour, I believe you will need to add a few other ingredients (like baking powder, salt). Bisquick is not just a flour substitute...it's a baking shortcut because it it has a few other ingredients in it, too.

To the OP, you could just google homemade bisquick, and get the recipe on how to make it from scratch.

But I agree, I wouldn't use the shake and pour. I think they want you to use a baking mix that you would use for buttermilk pancakes (like Aunt Jemima pancake mix or regular boxed Bisquick).

For the recipe I have it says bisquick or flour. It's an old family recipe. I've tried it both ways and prefer the flour. It's not a "bread" like pumpkin or banana, so it comes out really awesome.
