Pseg is awful
I’ve been seeing that on fb all day, so I haven’t even bothered to try. I’m also seeing that my area isn’t expected to have power back until Thursday. Ugh!

Wow that’s crazy!! I don’t have any cable, phone, or internet and thought that was bad hopefully they’re just saying that and it’ll be sooner!

I see Thursday for me too and many others in different areas. I think they are just saying that. They also claim they will get to the areas with the least outages last. Everything near me is out and no reports listed so nobody can get through to report.

Same here! I also would put my account number in and it said it wasnt recognized. I got the account number from a bill I received 5 days ago. Everywhere around me is out and there is no listing for it on their repair map. How will they know to come fix? Its a disgrace!

Mine said Friday and we got it back early this morning. I mean, I understand that there was a severe weather event and there are only so many workers and so many hours in a day but their communication system has nothing to do with that and should be absolutely stellar with the amount of money we pay for this antiquated energy system.

I feel like they just threw Friday or Sunday or whatever out there so that if you get it back sooner you feel like wow, thats great. I feel like those estimates are not based on anything to be honest

I believe it, my town and neighboring towns look like a war zone. Trees down all over and on the lines.

I hope that’s true! My heart breaks for all the food we have in our fridge and our freezer in the basement (we recently got a whole bunch of meat!) going to waste!

Re: Pseg is awful
Heard a tree fell on their server.
This was a horrible storm too. I was trying to bring some things in as it seemed fine and then sat there and watched things flying around and I felt like I was in a tornado being pulled around.

Re: Pseg is awful
My power still out. If I go on their map, this morning it said this afternoon. Now it says Friday. I thought after Sandy so much was supposedly improved. It almost seems worse as I got someone on the phone then. I have a full freezer and I hoped so much I would be able to save it. The door is shut but not sure how long it will last.

Re: Pseg is awful
Yes it really was awful yesterday. They totally suck.
I purposely didn't go food shopping when I usually do because of the storm so my fridge was empty by design. But we lose power if someone sneezes too hard so I figured it was coming.
We were without power for 8 hours and the fridge was actually pretty cold when I opened it. I dumped the milk and the cream but we're taking our chances with things like frozen waffles and such.

Re: Pseg is awful
Funny how people are attacking them but said just 2 days ago they didn’t even know we would get anything from this storm. They actually were aware and got bombarded and are doing their best.

Agree with this. I got my power back last night at 1:15am. Then lost it again at 230am. I sent a text OUT when that happened and I got an August 7th restoration which didn't make sense as power came back again an hour later.
I get there was a lot of damage, but PSEG really screwed this one up. The winds from this storm were no where near as bad as Sandy. But all the winds in the world shouldn't stop the utility company from making sure their technology was working and tested.
Their website was down, you couldn't call them as it went fast busy, mobile app didn't work, and their text messaging to report an outage was also out. Ridiculous. And they didn't even get it restored anytime soon. You are the utility company. You should have business continuity plans in place for stuff like this and they should be tested. And you can't blame the pandemic because pandemic and a firm wide WFH scenario should be tested as part of your business continuity plan. I work in technology and this was absolutely laughable. They should be probed. Pay me a nice fat 500k salary plus bonus and i'll go in there and fix it for them.

I didn't expect them to come running and fix the problem, stat! BUT they should never have said, "we got this" or, "we're prepared". They were NOT. They should have said, "with the pandemic, expect a few hiccups because many of our agents are working from home. Their power could be out, too" There's no excuse, IMO for the app to be down. People couldn't report serious problems or outages. I want to tell them to take their power supply charges and shove it up their @$$

Agreed! I am still waiting. Its today then its tomorrow and today again. Phone, text, app, nothing works. The outage map says so many different things. I thought this was a big issue with Sandy and this was not to happen again. We just drove around and everyone’s power is out, traffic lights out and not a truck in sight. We drove all over for quite a bit.

Yesterday, we lost power for only 2 hours in the afternoon. This morning, our power was turned off at 5:30, estimated to come back at 5:45. We figured they turned it off for safe repairs. It's still off and the estimate keeps increasing. We're up to Friday morning now.

We got hit hard. 33,000 homes without power. I’m giving them some leeway. At least it’s not winter and no one died. Within 20 minutes of the Beginning of the storm my neighbors tree fell down and ripped down lines. It’s annoying but it’s 2020.

Utilities are an essential service. If you can't make it work with your team working from home, they need to get their asses into the office like all other essential workers.

Same. I feel like they throw any date out to pad their time.
I give them no leeway at all. It's absolutely unacceptable that your paying customers couldn't even reach you by any means to report an outage and so there are people that aren't even on the map that should be. We pay dearly for their services. If they couldn't handle a tropical storm like yesterday's how would they have fared in a situation like Sandy? They need to get their act together or they need to go if this is above their heads.

Pseg is awful
We have no power and the line and pole are down at the end of my block. So a lot of homes are out. But, I'm not complaining too much since we didn't have a tree though our roof and we are alive. It's hot, but dealing. Chances are they know you are out because it's likely everyone in the immediate vicinity to you has reported it also. I have to say I'm a little disgusted that people were complaining on their site after 45 minutes of no power while it was still gusting winds out. People are ridiculous.

If they didn't show that hubris people would have been a lot more patient.
I have a downed tree and downed power lines at my mom's. It's all pretty close to her door. She doesn't move that quickly and can't hear well. I don't want to think about what a fire on the property would mean.
I had several people helping me to try to get a hold of PSEG and we couldn't. I understand they can't drop everything and get to me right away but they need to be able to COMMUNICATE with people. I had to message the TOB supervisor on FB and he got us on the PSEG list.
I get that the storm was bad and for the minor stuff people need to be patient and help each other out but there is no excuse for their boasting and shit systems.
