Schools closing?
DD’s school operates at a level of caution so extreme I don’t even know why they opened. If there’s a positive case they’ll probably just torch the place and go from a figurative dumpster fire to a literal one.

I am in Three Village and we did not close a school. We had a teacher tested positive in one class so they quarantined the class and moved them to remote learning for 2 weeks. We had one student in the HS.
It is inevitable to get cases. The virus is still out there so this should be no surprise. I do not understand though why schools are closing for one case. If they are following social distancing, mask wearing and cleaning properly only close contacts (which should be few) need to quarantine.
Where did you hear the teacher tested positive in that class?
Rumor mill.
For my sons school they had to close so they had enough time to do the contact tracing. The class is the easy part of it but if there is aftercare involved it add more contacts and our school even checks bathroom contact and bus so they needed half the day to do it. I think too if they were notified early in the day they might have had time but in our case they found out in the evening and made the call to close rather than rush the process.

We found out on a weekend so they kept home anyone who may have had contact. They met with the DOH yesterday and only kept out the child's teacher and TA, cohort and kids on both of the busses he took. They allowed two cohorts of kids to return (one is the teacher's other cohort and the other was a cohort of children so share the large space).
