STAR - check vs. credit
It seems this year I did not have STAR automatically coming out of my taxes as a credit. Now my mortgage company sent me a bill to make up for the money. I was told by a friend that i should be getting a check. For those who have dealt with this, when do you usually get that check?

I know someone in Nassau who got the check today. I believe you can look your delivery time up.

The School Tax Relief (STAR) program offers property tax relief to eligible New York State homeowners. If you are eligible and enrolled in the STAR program, you'll receive your benefit each year in one of two ways: STAR credit check.
If you look online you will see when they will be mailed out according to your school district.

Ahh ok, many don’t know there are 2 different things. School most people get every year. Used to be September, October. Keeps getting pushed up.

Do you still get the check if your mortgage company cuts the property tax checks? Recently did a refi, we used to write the taxes separate (and got star check), now taxes in mortgage. Curious
