Best way to get vaccination appointment?
DH was just diagnosed with an immune disorder that qualifies him for the vaccine. Is the best way to go on the NYS Am I Eligible app website?

One of my friends said she got an appt for her mother via the Walgreen's website and it was easier than the state websites. Maybe check that out too

I just tried Walgreens and the first question is if you're 65+, which I'm not and then said not eligible.
NYS sites are all fully booked unless I want to go to Plattsburgh.

Yes her mom was older. However, she also said she had an issue on the site and called the store and they got her a same day appt. Maybe try that? Or are they only doing 65 and over right now at Walgreens?

Yes, drugstores are only doing 65+, no people with comorbidities under 65.
ETA: 833-697-4829 for Javits to see if appointments are available (we couldn't find online). Also DH bought this program or extension in chrome that refreshes often so you can see if appointments come available. Easy auto refresh by ksoft, or something like that. He got his appointment for tomorrow, but through a friend that told him about some available in downtown Manhattan.

From what I know, Walgreens is only doing 65+.
Have you tried the Javits Center? That one seems to have more appointments. Unfortunately, you just have to keep trying.

Call the hotline often. I am on a few Covid Vaccine FB groups and people seem to have the most success doing that. Make sure the person who answers refreshes the page while they are on the phone with you.
Also if you are using the website, wait in the "que" and then even if there is no appointment, click next. One can literally pop up at any second.

Re: Best way to get vaccination appointment?
For NY state, you have to be 65+ to go to any of the pharmacies
Y Stalk the NY state site for appointments. Join: Long Island Covid -19 vaccination Information On Facebook. They have all tips and tricks for you to follow.
I joined that group and a similar one for NJ. I’ve gotten over a dozen seniors vaccine appts by going on rite aid site 11:45pm - 12:15 pm and then cvs site 5am-7am. It’s definitely not easy to grab, but worth it to help people.
But for your DH, state run site is where he needs to go. Join that group, you’ll have the appt sooner than later

Call the number and stalk the website. If you are willing to travel farther - like to Javits - they have more availability. But, they added so many new appts this week wait times have increased (I got my first dose there last week).
Also check and see if your county is having clinics - they typically start with first responders but mine opened to people with comorbidities this week.

I was in and out of Javits yesterday in an hour and 20 minutes. It wasn't bad. It will probably get longer as the weeks go on but it is what it is. It is orderly at least. Try to get an early AM appointment (before 11am), the line was out the door at 1pm during lunch.
Just keep searching the website every half hour. They do post appointments but they usually get booked up 20-30 minutes after they post them. They go fast!

Well I can tell you what probably happened. Two weeks ago I originally got an appointment at Stony Brook for April 16 (8 weeks out).
I am traveling to Florida on April 1st so I kept checking the website to see if another place opened appointments sooner as I wanted to try to get the first shot sometime in March to have partial protection. Was going to fly back from Florida to get the shot.
Last Monday Feb 22 Javits opened a bunch of appointments for THIS week. Was more short notice and I was able to get March 1 (first available date) which was great as that now gets me the second dose for March 22nd. Was awesome and I cancelled Stony Brook. So Javits must have gotten a large allocation very recently to administer this week. This would explain why this week was much busier than last. That’s why it’s important to keep checking. The person that got it last week may have booked their appointment back in early Feb.

Thank you all!
Javits Center last week was doing 2,000 shots a day. They are now doing 5,000-7,00 per day.
The last 2 days they have been training additional staff so hopefully the bottleneck gets better soon.

Best way to get vaccination appointment?
Unless you know some computer tricks, it's impossible but there's great news! on FB I joined agroup called NY COvid Vaccine help. Volunteers use computer algorithms to get appointments for people. Check it out!

Re: Best way to get vaccination appointment?
How do they expect everyone who wants a vaccine to have one by summer like they are saying if it's nearly impossible to get an appt now and it's not even open to the general public yet?
People aren't going to be joining Facebook groups and working with computer hackers to try and get an appointment and spending hours a day trying to score an appointment all the way in NYC when they have to work etc.
Something is going to have to give

Re: Best way to get vaccination appointment?
There is a trick I learned from a facebook group. On the NY state, they put out new appointments every 6 minutes. So every hour at :02, :08, :14, :20, :26, :32, :38, :44, :50, :56.
I was able to get appointments for several family members at jones beach using this method. At those times, keep refreshing and openings will pop up. You have to be super fast clicking on the times available.

The current issue is vaccine supply. Once J&J vaccine becomes widely available getting an appointment will no longer be an issue.

I agree, but I know many that will not take the one shot deal, because they are saying it is only 66% effective.

I know you have already had the vaccine so you are speaking for others.
The EFFICACY is 66% not the effectiveness. They mean different things.
The first vaccine you can get is the best one. Eventually everyone will be able to get the mRNA vaccine if they want it. Plus even if you got a mRNA vaccine, you will need a booster due to the variants.
