Wine has become my hobby, not just drinking learning the different varieties, regions, different tastes. It has become an expensive hobby to say the least but having fun learning.

Homemade Red Velvet is the.best but messy too. Made a few years ago with one of the kids and it was a hit.
I like red velvet but hate all the dye. I usually will opt for a chocolate cake instead, same flavor for the most part.
WORST part. Had red all over the place for days lol
LOL In the future, try the gel colors. They are easier to deal with and a little less messy. Plus, it requires less dye to achieve a vibrant color.
That’s exactly why I haven’t made it in such a long time and it’s such a shame cause that’s my favorite cake. I just don’t like the artificial food coloring anymore. I’ve used natural food coloring for rainbow cookies and even though the colors are not so vibrant once baked, they’re not too bad. I wonder how they’d work with a red velvet cake!
To avoid the food coloring, try a richer colored cocoa powder. It won't be that bright red, more of a deep red, but that's technically how it should be anyway. King Arthur Baking Company has great ingredients online for purchase, they have a really nice burgundy cocoa powder that would work great if you want to try it without the dye. 
You can’t use Dutch process cocoa powder, though. It doesn’t work. I tried it. If you used Dutch process, let me know how you did that. Everywhere I read said it was next to impossible even with red dye. I don’t have access to Natural Cocoa Powder.
Yes, you're right. Red Velvet should be made without Dutch processed cocoa, I use naturally unsweetened. Can you order any online?
I have yet to find anything (not in bulk) online...
There are some all natural stores, so I might try them when I remember. The price will be crazy, though.

No new hobbies but I did try some new recipes over the years, some were even Hofstra.
Hiked more
Finished all my credits for my cert 2 years ahead of scheduled and got a CSM cert.
I love to hike as well, being in the quiet of nature is the best way to clear your head.
It is. I wasn’t an idoorsy person, more of a lay on a beach with a drink kinda gal. Surprising I know.
But one good thing about last year is that it made me explore NJ and the beautiful scenery, although I’ve been here for over a decade, I just took it for granted. Now that it’s getting nicer, I started again and actually took my son on a day date during Easter Break to one of the interstate trails.
It is calming and relaxing.

I was smart enough to make double the cookie crumble part of the milkbar cake.

It's a process for sure to make that cake! lol That lemon cake sounds AMAZING!! Yum!!

The one thing that surprised us when we moved out to NJ is jut how pretty it can be. I grew up with a LI'ers view of NJ, lol, I really didn't know it could be so mountainous, wooded and beautiful. That is what we have enjoyed most of all about being here, you can't really find this much open nature on LI. My kids love being out in the woods, there is so much to explore. Hoping to taking them camping for the first time this summer.
