I can hop on a plane for free with miles and go to Disney next week. Free hotel also since they comped us for a complaint, and I have unused tickets! But, the Magic Kingdom has NO availability for park days until July. It's nuts!

That is just insane! I miss Disney so much but until it's normal again (and NO masks) I really don't want to bother. For the money it costs, I don't think it is worth going right now under the current circumstances. Chat Icon

South Africa. My friend moved there a few years ago and I’ve always wanted to visit and now she’s getting married so I’ll make the time to go. I’ll probably do some other places since I’m making the trek.

Other than that I’ve been to most places that have been on my list other than Ireland

You’ll love it there! What part? If you can, definitely try to do a side trip to a close country. Namibia and Botswana are really nice. It’s worth it!

She lives in Cape Town. So I’m assuming the wedding will be there but you never know with her. She moves there to teach yoga and is living a completely different life than here in the states so she could be married on top of a mountain somewhere

For all you Disney experts where is the best place to stay with two toddlers. I have been doing some research but some reviews on the transportation to and from the parks seem like a nightmare. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated without going bankrupt! Thanks in advance.

If you can swing it, the Grand Floridian was wonderful. On the monorail and no need for long bus rides. We stayed at Pop Century once and the bus ride is 45 minutes away from Magic Kingdom. Too long to go back and forth a few times a day.

The bus ride from Pop Century is not 45 minutes. Not sure what happened when you went. We go to Disney all the time, have stayed just about everywhere, and have stayed at Pop Century several times, and the bus ride is 20 minutes. Maybe if you are sitting there on the bus waiting another 25 minutes to load people it's 45 minutes.

All I know is that we were there in the summer and it took that long as that was something I will never forget. Not sure if we had a ton of stops but that was one of the reasons we would not stay there again. Being on the monorail my husband and one kid was able to run over and go on some rides while myself and the other one got ready for the day. Once we got back to Pop we weren’t going to leave as it was time consuming.

I agree with above, no resort is that far from the parks. But I will say, Pop is a VERY busy resort and the one thing that did drive me crazy was the waits for the bus. It took cycle after cycle to get on board and even then, it was rare to get a seat. You were always stuffed in like sardines. That got annoying day after day.

I really enjoyed staying at Wilderness Lodge because you could hop on the little boat to get to MK or the monorail to Epcot. It was a pretty and quiet ride and you never really got stuck on long lines waiting to board. It was great!

It was good for the price but if you like to go back and forth to the parks all day and night, it was just not the place for that.
Maybe it was just a busy time we went and it is better at others. We got spoiled by being on the monorail too.

I am a park hopper myself so I agree, the closer you can stay to the resorts the better. The buses can wear you down, especially after a loooooong day in the park.

I loved staying at Caribbean Beach near the Skyline. It was so convenient. The only downside was the size of the resort was so big and we were a walk from the main pool and resort area.

I've been twice with 3 kids, 2 of which were toddlers on both occasions. My best advice is to stay on a monorail resort. The benefit of the ease of rolling the stroller on and off the monorail more than makes up for the less pricey places where you have to take a bus. There is nothing worse than pulling the sleeping and/or overtired kid out of the stroller with all the crap to fold it up to get on the bus.

I stayed at both the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian. Personally, while I thought the GF was beautiful with great rooms, it was very stuffy. Too much for my 3 boys. We loved the Poly. Much more family oriented.

Once traveling is a thing again.....................

We are trying to decide on our next big trip. Probably won’t be til summer of 2022. Deciding between a Baltic cruise, Ireland or Alaska. This year we’re just going to Florida in November for a wedding so we’ll probably make a vacation out of it.

We have stayed there before also and it was really nice. That was before kids though but heard they renovated and it is one of the popular ones too to go to.

Do you feel safe bringing your kids to Mexico? There are some gorgeous resorts but I'm just unsure about bringing my kids.

I just got back from Riviera Maya (just south of Cancun). Would feel totally safe bringing my kids there. I went running around the resort (it was huge) everyday and felt 100% safe. The resort we went to was great for kids - it had it's own waterpark and tons of other activities for the kids. Highly recommend it.

Vidanta Grande Luxxe although all of the hotels on the property looked nice. Grand Luxxe Jungle is closest to the water park but very far to the beach & pool, although there is a shuttle. There is also a fee for the water park but it was only about $40 per adult and $20 for kids I think and you would probably only use it once or twice while you are there because there are a million other pools.

Flights to cancun are pretty cheap generally and it's a pretty short flight from NY.

Hoping to go to Cabo for spring break next year with kids as we were supposed to go before covid and had to cancel.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions for Disney. I think we will definitely try staying somewhere where we can use the monorail back and forth to the parks. A few years ago we stayed at port orleans - French quarters. If I remember correctly the bus stop for the parks was relatively close and not too crowded. Downside to staying there was the food available there was not the best. Also, I see that a few resorts are still closed with no opening dates. Does anyone know Disney plans to reopen them in the near future? Sorry for all the silly questions, I find all this planning overwhelming! Thanks again Chat Icon

Once traveling is a thing again.....................

We just returned from Disney last week! (Was our rescheduled canceled Covid trip from May 2020)
While things are a bit different right now, we had a wonderful time! No worries about the buses right now, ALL seated passengers with partitions and sometimes they even send coach buses for the parks (even easier since you can store the stroller under!)

Mobile food ordering was fantastic. We missed our hugs from Mickey but the character cavalcades were so cute. We frequent Disney so a trip back now while things are still different didn’t bother us.

As for a real vacation, we are cruisers, wishing, hoping and praying for the return of cruise vacations from the US

ABSOLUTELY!!!! Always felt safe there, and especially the resort we go to. We go to the Grand Moon Palace, it has a waterpark as well. No charge ! There is also a game room for younger and older kids.

Not sure when you are looking to go but FYI the Epcot monorail is closed right now. So if you stay at a monorail resort, you only have the advantage to one park. There is no reopening date yet. It won't be closed forever, but something to keep in mind.

Every resort has an opening date in the relatively near future except Port Orleans resorts, Animal Kingdom Lodge (Jambo House) and two All Stars.

Not sure of the logic in keeping those resorts in particular closed, but I assume it might have to do with the fact that those resorts are almost entirely bus transportation only, which increases their costs because of social distancing.

If you enjoy reading the speculation and rumors, head over to disboards. Those people are hardcore lol. You will learn whatever nugget of info exists out there.

As long as variants do minimal damage and we are almost out of the worst of this, I don't think it will be too much longer before they open. Maybe fall.

When they do open expect high prices between pent up demand, the 50th celebration, new rides, and the huge fanbase the PO resorts have. (I'm in love with Riverside myself.)

Happy planning!

Yeah we were forced to go because my inlaws and my mom both wanted to go with the kids to Disney, and not with one another. Was dreading it but I was impressed with how well run the parks are and how easy fast pass made everything. It became a game to me booking fast passes. But if I never have to go back to Disney again I would be fine with it. I never understood the Disney obsession. For me it's fun for the kids once or twice but I know people who go year after year. I would so much rather explore real places than go to an amusement park over and over and over.

We go every year, sometimes more than once. My son is autistic, he's 22. It's always been his favorite place, and is such an "easy" vacation for him.

We do go other places also though.

We just got back from Cabo this past Sunday. We felt very secure on the hotel grounds with their COVID protocols.
OMG, I can't say enough how much this trip was needed for DH and I. I am so thankful we took the chance and went.

I think that once people start traveling they see that it's not unsafe. Of course any time you are around people there is a chance you get COVID but for the most part it's no different than going to the supermarket. Even the planes are generally very safe unless you are very unlucky and get stuck sitting next to someone that is shedding Covid.
