Vaccinated people are getting vaccinated people sick so what is your point? It’s not like us unhinged people who are wearing masks and are unvaccinated are running around infecting people.
This is what I am not understanding? How is allowing vaccinated people to go maskless helping the situation if they can still pass along the virus to others? The whole point of wearing masks was to protect others not the mask wearer? I am not trying to argue I am just trying to understand all the logic behind this decision.
I guess if you pass it to someone vaccinated, neither are going to get very sick. If you're not vaccinated, you should still be wearing a mask indoors so that would be your protection.
How do we know they won’t get very sick....no one is checking them to see if the vaccine is still effective.
Have any of you who were vaccinated early on had your antibody levels checked???? I guarantee not.... but because “they” think it lasts 6 months you are fine. Well here we are 6 months later and I couldn’t tell you one person I know who has checked. But let them walk around maskless.....makes sense.
I asked my doctor about taking an antibody test and he said a regular blood test will not show vaccine induced antibodies, only those from a previous infection. There is a specific type of antibody with the spike protein that is not looked at with the current tests. I'm not sure if there's any way for the general public to get a blood test to check vaccine antibodies. Anyway, I do agree with you that allowing only vaccinated people to go maskless is the stupidest thing ever lol.
So how will they determine how often people need to get vaccinated or if/when they will need a booster if the blood test doesn't show vaccine induced antibodies? Do they have another test that they are using to follow the people in the clinical trials to determine how long the vaccine antibodies lasts?
I didn’t know that not only there needed to be a ‘specific’ test to check vax antibodies but also that it wasn’t available to the public. What a joke! How are they then telling people that for sure they’ll have antibodies and that it’ll def last for all these months, even suggesting up to a year! But sureeee, vax antibodies are DEF way better than natural antibodies.
*IF* I got the vaccine it wouldn’t be until October so I’m protected during ‘Covid season’. If you get it now, whose to say your protected in the heart of Covid season? They need to stop pushing it right now and get ready for the influx come September/ October when people SHOULD be getting it.
Mark my words....suddenly it will be good for a year, suddenly when they get rid of masks they will change it with no actual studies. Because I haven’t heard one person in the real world tested if they still had antibodies from the vaccine. But if the “science” says it we must follow it.
There is no protocol for EVERY person to be tested for vaccine antibodies however, those who have been ACTUAL participants in the vaccine research studies from the get go most surely have been tested and will continue to be. That's how we learn. That's how science and research works.
The FACT is, the more months that pass, the longer the protection seems to be. There is no real reason to think that the vaccine antibodies won't last months to a year or even longer. Scientists will continue to study the vaccine and adjust recommendations as necessary based on the research. I'm not sure what world you live in where you think medicine/vaccines are simply decided on a whim as opposed to following actual, real life data to drive decisions.
Whether you choose to believe it or not, the DATA so far points to the vaccine being both effective and safe up to this point. And before you rattle off about the potential long terms risks of a vaccine made from components that have long been studied over the years, COVID itself carries the VERY real risk of long term health effects, some debilitating. It's a matter of which risk you're more comfortable with.
Don't take the vaccine, that's your choice. But continually mocking science and the entire medical community just makes you look foolish and shows your lack of knowledge about the vaccine itself.
Well if we’re going to worry about long term risks of Covid maybe we shouldn’t be celebrating a vaccine that still allows you to get Covid.
Your comments regarding the vaccine are painfully ignorant.
You should absolutely be celebrating a vaccine that is PROVEN to have a 95% efficacy rate with PREVENTING severe cases of COVID that can land you in the hospital or in a coffin. PREVENTING a severe case of COVID (should you contract it) means it's unlikely you'll suffer long term effects since you won't get that sick to begin with it at all.
How about instead of spewing nonstop nonsense about the vaccine you simply say, "I'm scared of the vaccine so I won't take it" and then move on. That's the only thing that might actually make any sense coming from you at this point. Everything else is gibberish.
How about those who are vaccinated stop thinking they are immune and celebrating that they can rip off their masks. The vaccine is 100% doing its job of keeping the at risk out of the hospital and those same people still need to be careful! There is so much misinformation out there on both ends. I feel like I’m parenting my parents again bc they think they should go into target maskless bc they are ‘safe’ and can’t get Covid.
Vaccinated people are safe without a mask because again, if a vaccinated individual contracts COVID they will likely have a very mild case or be asymptomatic. Between having had COVID, testing for antibodies and having my first shot I would feel safe taking off my mask at this point. (not that. I have)
At some point, the idea is to rely on the vaccine and NOT masks and social distancing. If that makes you uncomfortable going forward, get yourself vaccinated. If not, just accept this is where we're headed and more as more people are fully vaccinated. It's NOT a bad thing.
And in my opinion I am young and healthy and feel confident that I will have a mild case. So I should be able to be maskless in non crowded places as well. I’ve been in many situations within the last couple months where I have been maskless and haven’t got Covid (that I know of - if I did it must have been mild).
Considering you have had Covid and first round of the vaccine and you haven’t taken your mask off yet it’s clear we will never agree on this.

BTW.........the ONLY place I wear a mask is indoors at stores because I HAVE to by state mandate. As soon as that's lifted here in NJ, I won't be because I trust the vaccine and my own antibodies will keep me safe.

Get vaccinated or wear a mask
I still don't understand how people can be SO sure they would be fine. I'm sure the wife of my 43 year old perfectly healthy neighbor who died from covid would disagree with you. Did not smoke or drink and the autopsy showed zero health issues. So...while you may have a much higher chance of being fine, it's not a guarantee young and healthy people will walk away with no problems. Healthy infants have died from this. I will only wear the mask where I am asked as I'm fully vaccinated and my family and I do a lot- I am not living in fear but to say you know you would be fine is silly. You don't know that.

"I'm young and healthy and feel that I would have a mild case".
No words.
BTW.........the ONLY place I wear a mask is indoors at stores because I HAVE to by state mandate. As soon as that's lifted here in NJ, I won't be because I trust the vaccine and my own antibodies will keep me safe.
You said you have not taken your mask off. Obviously that didn’t work out well if you got Covid. The masks are useless.
And yea, I’m young....I will be fine. Keep living in fear while I Live my fabulous life.
Your comments.
I've never said any such thing nor am I living in fear. But whatever you need to believe.
Ah “living in fear”

I still don't understand how people can be SO sure they would be fine. I'm sure the wife of my 43 year old perfectly healthy neighbor who died from covid would disagree with you. Did not smoke or drink and the autopsy showed zero health issues. So...while you may have a much higher chance of being fine, it's not a guarantee young and healthy people will walk away with no problems. Healthy infants have died from this. I will only wear the mask where I am asked as I'm fully vaccinated and my family and I do a lot- I am not living in fear but to say you know you would be fine is silly. You don't know that.
Honestly I think perfectly healthy people dying is very rare. Does it happen, absolutely. Just like you hear about this with other situations. I honestly don’t think anyone knows someone’s medical background 100% unless you are there 24/7 and at all doctors visits. People also do things that others don’t know about.
It is very sad for anyone to pass and especially from this virus.
