MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22 1/2 years in prison for the murder of George Floyd, whose dying gasps under Chauvin’s knee led to the biggest outcry against racial injustice in the U.S. in generations.
The punishment handed out Friday fell short of the 30 years that prosecutors had requested.
With good behavior, Chauvin, 45, could be paroled after serving two-thirds of his sentence, or about 15 years.

I feel like that's not enough time but it could have been worse I guess. Hopefully he's denied parole when the time comes.

Not enough but considering what they typically sentence people with the same charges I think they made the right call.

I wonder what he was referring to when he addressed the family and said further information is coming that he hopes will give them peace.

I know - such a strange thing to say. Is he implying that it was natural causes and not that it was his fault? I can't imagine what information could give them peace. I do understand that even if he wanted to apologize for his actions he can't because of the other lawsuits.
