Lunch breaks
We get an hour for lunch but, I typically don't take an hour, especially since we've been at home and I take "breaks" here and there to do stuff at home.
When I worked in NYC, I'd generally eat at my desk so I could leave on time as my train options were fairly limited.

Re: Lunch breaks
I do technically have a lunch break but I almost always eat at my desk.

We're required to take a 1 hour lunch break, unpaid. If we work through lunch or take a short lunch we need to explain why. And if it happens too often they get pissy about it.
Are you hourly?
Yes. I work 40 hours a week. Anything over is OT so if I only take 1/2 hour lunch they owe me 30 minutes OT.
When I worked in the law firm if you were asked to work through your lunch you got OT for you. Also if you had an appointment and had leave work early you could work through your lunch and make up the time.
I think if you are hourly you are more likely to take your lunch.

I worked on salary for probably close to 20 years and always took my entire lunch. I went home as after kids that was my “me” time for the day.

Re: Lunch breaks
I have never had any sort of formal, official lunch break. I usually eat while I'm working.
Just to be clear before anyone jumps down my throat, I don't eat WHILE I teach. I eat while I'm planning, doing freelance work online, etc.
I don't even think I would know what to do with a real lunch break.

I am laying on my couch right now during mine and it is great lol.
Many coworkers I know take naps in their cars.

Re: Lunch breaks
I get an hour and 15 minutes for my lunch break and I take advantage of every minute. I have small kids so that is my only "free time" to get things done. Errands, food shopping, a walk or run in the park. Fortunately I live close enough that I can stop home with the groceries or freshen up.

This is me, especially when I have those few random days where it's not super busy. I still sit at my desk in my office at home and puts around on the computer.

Lunch breaks
When I worked in the city, all the way downtown, every once in a while, on really nice days, I would get a sandwich at a deli and ride the Staten Island Ferry during lunch. Those were my favorite lunch hours.
Now, I usually eat at my desk and take a short break just while I'm eating. Or occasionally will run an errand or two. But pre-covid my job required me to be out of the office on a fairly regular basis, so I would often stop somewhere for lunch out, or run errands before heading back to the office

Re: Lunch breaks
I never had a set lunch break but at my last full time job we ordered in lunch every day and ate lunch together in the conference room for about 45 minutes a day. It was great. There were only 8 or 9 of us though. We also never left the office so no chance to get errands done.

Lunch breaks
I’m hourly but entitled to a lunch break if I want to take one. Depends how busy I am, but sometimes I eat while working at my desk and do not officially put in for a break. Other days I’ll take a break and eat with some of my co-workers in another room.

Re: Lunch breaks
When me and my mom worked Together I would take Lunch breaks all the time and we got out to eat together or eat in the back. When we stopped working together I used my lunch break whenever I needed to run errands or if I had a drs appointment I would consider that my lunch break. I would also meet my mom for lunch once in a while. Often though I would grab food and eat at my desk sometimes i was working or most of the time I was on Facebook or something like that.
Now that I work from home I rarely go anywhere for lunch or run errands. Think mostly cause I just don’t feel like leaving lol. But through out the day I will do laundry sometimes cook things around the house.
