What do you serve at a BBQ?
We went to a BBQ at a friends house a few weeks ago and brought a bean salad, steak to grill and a dessert. Another guest brought a small tray of mac and cheese and a green salad. The host had hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken but no sides. My DH didn't really care bc he ate a bunch of meat.
Now we are having a BBQ in a few weeks and I am trying to plan what to have and I mentioned potato, macaroni salads and cole slaw, corn etc. and DH said it seems like a lot.
What is your typical BBQ menu for about 15 people or so?

I would definitely do corn on the cob and a salad of some kind. I personally think the potato salad, cole slaw, etc. are better in an indoor environment because there's so much mayo on them and you don't want them sitting out in the sun too long. But, yes, I think the host should provide some sides.

Re: What do you serve at a BBQ?
I have made Suddenly Salad Ranch and Bacon for multiple BBQ's as they would ask me to keep bringing it. I made 2 or 3 boxes, easy and goes over very well.

For a typical BBQ - I would expect hamburgers, hotdogs (and possibly chicken or steak depending on how many people) and sides - the sides you mentioned sound good.

Re: What do you serve at a BBQ?
For sides- a green salad, a cold pasta salad or tortellini salad, then maybe one mayo salad like potato salad or cole slaw (If i'm doing pasta salad I'd skip the macorni salad) Also yes to the corn on the cob as a side Or even some grilled veges

What do you serve at a BBQ?
The last BBQ I had (4th of July weekend) I catered it and had Caesar Salad Fried chicken Ribs Chili Baked beans Mac & Cheese Grilled veggies Macaroni and potato salad & cole slaw
I'm having another BBQ in a few weeks and haven't yet finalized the menu, but I am thinking chicken and shrimp skewers (with veggies) some type of steak burgers & hot dogs corn (and other sides, but I don't know what yet)

Oh I love fried chicken at a BBQ too Always catered though because its too much work to make for a bbq. But yes so good to get a tray of it

Re: What do you serve at a BBQ?
We usually do the following...
When guests are trickling in, we have some sort of non-perishable app out...chips, nuts, something of that nature. Our guests are always late lol, so once a reasonable number are there, we put out more substantial appetizers, like dips, shrimp cocktail, fresh mozz & tomatoes, etc. We vary it.
For the first main course, we do hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and a macaroni salad of some sort. For the second, we typically do chicken and sausage (sometimes pulled pork instead of one of those) and a side. The side varies...sometimes a salad...sometimes mac and cheese.
We don't typically have too many big dessert eaters, so I usually get two reasonably sized things, though it varies...ice cream and cheesecake...cookies and ice cream...etc.

I just did the same exact menu for July 4th. Corn on the cob though instead of corn pudding.

I eat very little meat so side-less BBQs are rough. I’ll usually have burgers, hot dogs, chicken and an “extra” like shrimp, sausage, steak, etc. then grilled veggies or corn on the cob, a pasta salad, a potato or corn salad (depending on if I do veggies or corn on the cob), a green salad of some sort. I always have an assortment of chips, dips, charcuterie/crudités. Then some sort of sweets (cookies, brownies, cupcakes) and fruit. S’mores if I’m feeling ambitious about children near an open fire, which I usually am not.
And alcohol, of course.
