Most people are not nasty to one another in real life. An anonymous online forum lets you vent your frustrations and snarkiness in a way that is "safe". It isn't all that bad. I think that is why lifamilies still persists despite Facebook (where, unless you have a fake profile, you are linked to your posts IRL).

It’s really not fair for strangers to curse at people and treat them horrible when they don’t agree though, no matter if you are anonymous (this site is not as anonymous as some think) or not.
It’s like many people have issues in their lives and instead of taking it out on their own friends and family, they find it ok to come online and take it out on a stranger.
You can’t portray how wonderful you are IRL and then attack someone online.
