It is utterly fascinating to me that teachers and school administrators possess a fear of covid not even seen among doctors, nurses and other high risk professions.

I am a teacher and nobody in my school wants to be remote. My class is remote right now and we can't return until after break. I am devestated that I am missing out on all the fun holiday things I had planned for my class. My principal, the faculty- NOBODY wants to ever go remote again. Teachers don't get to decide whether schools go remote or not. Neither does the principal. It comes from the district or the state/city.

May I ask why your class is quarantined? My son is also quarantined through the break because of the school basketball team, 1 child positive. Even though they wear masks - they consider it close contact and there’s no test out option currently to come back (my son is negative). Although there was a news article yesterday about some states using a test to stay procedure to lessen the amount of healthy children missing school. This asynchronous learning (middle school) is laughable - it’s not Google meets piped in anymore.

My niece’s class had to quarantine since the teacher tested positive. 4 or 5 kids in the class wound up positive 2-4 days later so in this case it was good that the class quarantined.

The kids wear masks all day too?

Apparently her teacher sucks at wearing a mask and it is common knowledge around the school. She is also lower elementary so she works closely with the students in small groups. Kids also remove their masks for snack. Everyone infected sat in close proximity to the teacher’s desk. My niece’s desk is closest to the teacher.

WHAT?! If my DD got covid because her teacher, an ADULT, “sucks at wearing a mask” I would be irate. I’m irate for your niece and her parents!

She is irate. My other niece and my BIL have since also tested positive. My BIL has been out of commission for over a week. He’s vaccinated. He said he’s never been this sick in his entire life. So far my sister and nephew are negative.

Sad as people think since they are vaccinated they will have less symptoms. You just never know. Hope he feels better soon as being sick, especially at holiday time sucks.

Again how do you know that? Not trying to come at you but no one really knows that. The booster doesn’t protect you either from getting sick.

It has been proven, time and time and time again, that while the vaccine does not stop infection or spread, it does lessen the severity of symptoms. You can choose to not believe that. You can choose to keep thinking the sky is falling and the government is out to get you.
You can easily look at the data from hospitals- the hospitalization rate for unvaccinated is, in fact, higer than among the vaccinated. That does not mean vaccinated people don't get seriously ill and die. It also doesn't mean that the majority of unvaccinated people will be fine- because a majority of them will be fine.
But the data is all there. It must be so difficult to spend your entire life with a weird obsession over a vaccine you DIDN'T EVEN TAKE. SO WHO CARES. I don't care that people didn't get vaccinated- doesn't bother me and I don't judge your decision. However you seem to spend all your free time judging those who did get the vaccine. Worry about your own life, your own family, your own decisions. Just like you expect everyone else to do for you.

What you wrote at the bottom is exactly the problem. People are judging the unvaxed. They are not allowing them to participate in activities. People are not worrying about their own lives because they are being told what to do from the government. It is already proven that vaccinated people get less ill so that should be the end of it. It is also proven that getting the vaccine does not take away the risk of getting or transmitting Covid exactly like an unvaxxed person. The whole initial story about getting the vaccine to save those around you is false. It doesn't save anyone but yourself. Take the shot if you want, don't at your own risk. Mandating it and not allowing people to participate because of their choice is the the lack of a better word, discriminatory.
