Well in my town in NJ, the local catholic school had 100 person in class spread of covid and shut down. They are all virtual until break on Thursday. In the public school, they did make two classes in one grade go virtual for a week when there were six kids with covid. It stopped the spread. At the high school over 85% are vaccinated. At the middle school 80% are vaccinated. At the catholic school they said less than 20% of the people are vaccinated without listing an actual number. If I had to guess based upon in town Facebook discussions I would guess it is zero kids and the 20% is the adults.

On LI - and I don't know the exact numbers but it is at least 30 for our middle school and the dean said every single person was vaccinated. So there is no rhyme or reason to who Covid hits.

What is the value in speculating or even worrying about what September 2022 will look like? Nobody has any answers to this question and SO much can change in the almost year until next September.

Live for today and stop stressing over a future that you have no control over. What a waste of energy.

Because some people are planning on pulling their kids if it doesn’t get better, myself included. I’m not subjecting my kids to this nonsense another year, they don’t deserve it while friends and families in other states are getting a normal education.

IMHO, if the only thing you are willing to accept is a pre-Covid style of education, I would start planning NOW to do whatever it is you are going to do (home school or move). I do not think that is where we will be in September 2022. Not sure if there will be a continued mask mandate, if vaccines will be mandatory, or both - but I do not, in any way, shape or form see education returning to the carefree days of 2019 in 2022 in New York.

I’ve had two families leave on my block because of this crap. They realized real estate is hot here so selling now would be best and they were not going to stick around to find out what happened in these schools

Exactly. Covid is being spread by both vaccinated and unvaccinated. My son had to quarantine twice because of vaccinated kids who had Covid in his class. This is in NJ and catholic school. There hasn’t been a massive spread in his school. Doesn’t mean this is the same for all schools through out a large state like NJ.

I highly doubt there will be a state wide post holiday school shutdown- but I do see individial districts making the decision to be remote the week of the 3rd. I don't think it will do anything but that won't stop them from doing it.
My children's school did send out an email last night that this week all students will be bringing home devices and books in the event the school is remote the week of the 3rd. So places are definitely considering it.
As for 2022, I do not anticipate next school year being maskless either. Maybe no quaratines due to test and stay and no classroom closures. I think it will be a bit more normal than this year as this year feels more normal than last. But masks are here to stay in NY schools, i'm afraid- for at least another year or two.
