Power of the media
They control us. We allow it.
They decided Covid is over.
They decide what is good or bad.
Trump wasn’t allowed Twitter. Putin is allowed.
It’s amazing what they did the last two years. And within days there is zero coverage of Covid and everyone from the president to news anchors are maskless, no social distancing, no talk of boosters/vaccines. It’s literally gone.

It is sad but many don’t believe the media is brainwashing many. It is sad as you can see it everyday.

Hmmmm....
I just looked online and last week we had 19 active cases in my town, this week it's down to 7...
Interesting how the numbers are dwindling after the mandates have been lifted.

I was just saying this to DH today as we sat at breakfast in a restaurant and nobody had a mask on anywhere.
I said- I guess it's over now.
He said yeah because the media has decided it's over.
Putting everything else aside, it is actually scary and disturbing to see the hold the media has on the country.
A stronger hold than the President, any leader, anyone.
They can make you do and believe just about anything.

And instead of admitting they were duped they will try to sweep this all under the rug like it never happened. I’ll never forget how I was treated. Granted, I did what I was told early on but as I saw the deception and tried to have civil discussions I was called horrible terrible things. I was excluded from things. It’s disgusting. Now crickets from them.

Not in my immediate family thankfully but in some of my extended family this has caused a horrible rift between close family members.
It's very sad.

Nah I don't buy that.
People choose to parrot without nuance.
Context and nuance has been lost to who can be the loudest voice.
No one chooses to actually look - historically, socially, anthropoligically - how we ended up here, and when. People just want to blame.

I have not seen “many, many” posters deny the power of the media. I don’t think anyone has or could. Of course it’s powerful.
What I think people need to realize, though, is that there are tools available to people to figure out what is accurate and what is not, or at least get somewhat of an idea of how much bias plays into the reporting. And yes, this is true on both sides.
And I believe that “many, many“posters on here lack those tools.

Our school has 0 cases since they dropped the masks.
My DH said that he thinks the first round back in 2020 was more potent and thats why it was lethal to some. But as it went on its weakening into what you call the Flu.

Yeah, nope, I'll take the media...warts and all - every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
I am not a fan of Facebook or Twitter and don't get me started on the opinion shows that call themselves news.
However, after reading about what Putin is doing with the Russian media (and seeing how the news works in China) - I'll take our freedom of the press, hype or no hype and try to weed out the nonsense.
(I certainly don't feel "the media is the enemy of the people".)

The Spanish Flu still exists all these years later...as a muchess deadly seasonal flu.

I agree with your husband. I also think people are not reporting as much with the home tests. I know 2 people who tested positive, were responsible and stated home, but never reported it.
So yes, I believe it’s weaker but not gone. I think it will be like a flu with different strains every year but I think the danger is over.

Whose to say the media here isn’t attempting to do that to us here?
Think about it. The average American wants to know what’s going on in the world….majority of stations are purely opinion reporting. I’ll flip between different ones and it’s amazing the way each one can interpret something and try to convince their viewers what they’re saying is true.
Look at Biden’s state of the Union. Fund the police??? Are you f$cking kidding me….him and the media spent an entire summer convincing people to defund the police. Got everyone on board. Riots. Looting. Protests. CHOP. They tried to make America think something that was completely false!

I agree. It’s up to the viewer/reader/listener to look up more sources and studies to weed out stuff. Someone on here was just saying “what about that pipeline” and then couldn’t say more because they were getting ready and flipping between channels or something like that.
I read something the other day about how Putin stages his media. It was really interesting. There was a lot on how there are controls, phones, and buttons in the background. Sure the media is staged a bit in the US, but not like that, IMO.
