Many companies are NOT raising their prices just making the package smaller, or putting less in the package.
Six of one, half a dozen of another. Smaller packaging at the same price is no different than keeping the packaging the same and increasing the cost.
I really hate when they play these games and think that people won't notice.
They do that with calorie and nutritional information too. Oh ONLY 100 calories per serving! But the serving size is like 1/4 of a cup of ice cream or something.

And many people NEVER look at the serving size or abide to it. I only do because I have done weight watchers and when trying to lose weight I only eat the serving size. It is hard with many things, like pasta as you can only have 1 cup. You have to be creative with salads to have enough to eat. Cookies are almost ALL only 2 cookies while many people will eat a whole sleeve

Re: Are you changing your spending habits
I used to be a circular shopper but now with 3 kids, I found that very time consuming so I would just do a Shoprite order every week. Now I'm back to checking out prices. I went to 4 different stores this weekend. That was okay because I had no plans really but i can't do that all the time. It did save a decent amount though.

Ugghh yeah that can be too much too. I only do 2 stores per week. It is not worth it to me, time and gas expense to drive all over the place to save a little bit of money.

Thats what we do. We take one day to do one giant shopping trip for the month and shop only sales. We do it with kids and all.
We have a big pantry and box freezer in the basement and stock up like a mini store. If the apocolypse comes our friends know what house to come to.

Are you changing your spending habits
I'm trying to be a bit more cost conscious. i said to DH that I think I'm going to go to the Walmart Neighborhood market for non-perishable food items....I would imagine their prices are still better. However, I like to be certain organic food, and organic or grass fed meat or milk where possible....as a cancer survivor I get worried about conventional for certain things....so given those costs, I think I need to start cutting down elsewhere. Also, as silly as it sounds since gas prices keep rising, I am filling up along the way rather than letting it get down to like a third of a tank or something because I know the price is only going to rise.

Lidl has excellent prices on organic/grassfed meat. My DH only buys organic/grassfed and he says the prices there are better even than BJ's for that stuff If you have one near you it might be worth a look.
