Where to donate open pet food
We have a large bin of dog food and treats that we would like to give away. Our dog recently passed and I don’t want it to go to waste.
I haven’t been getting responses from the places I’ve contacted and most places want sealed bags.
Nassau County is best but I can drive wherever as long as they’ll take it and use it.
Thank you for your help

Where to donate open pet food
maybe volunteers for wildlife, they feed dog food to baby birds
is all else fails, post on FB

or your Vet, they might accept open food from you, since they know you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog.
I'm unsure about your donation question, but have you tried contacting smaller rescues as opposed to shelters (or shelters as opposed to smaller rescues, depending upon who you've already contacted)?
If that doesn't work, do you have any relatives or friends with dogs who could use the food and treats?

I tried a small rescue who told me they don’t need food 
Hmm I hadn’t thought about giving it to anyone we know. My first thought was a charity.

Sorry for the loss of your dog.
When my dog passed, we donated it to a shelter where we adopted our dog.

Sorry for the loss of your dog.
When my dog passed, we donated it to a shelter where we adopted our dog.
Thank you. I haven’t been able to touch her things but the food will go bad by the time I’m ready. I’ll just have to bring it to the shelter and hope they take it.
