When your presented with an employment offer, do you take into consideration PTO and health benefits.

I find a lot of people don't though.
I made this girl an offer last year- she was coming from a completely different field so had no experience in what we do but the job is trainable for the right person.
She kept complaining about the salary being too low. So we asked her do you have benefits at your current job- she went on to say she had some benefits but nothing great and our plan was much better. And she said she got no paid time off- she had to go unpaid when she took off
We were offering a full benefits package and paid time off...sick, personal and vacation .
I got my boss on the phone with her and he broke down how much that stuff adds up to- in a dollar amount sense. She took the job the next day.
Some people don't realize the actual dollar value of benefits and PTO and are focused solely on that salary number

Yup, my company just broke it down for us. I think my "salary" was over $30,000 more for the benefits that they provide to us.

Definitely! I went from the private sector to the public sector 21 years ago. The base salary offered was only a little more than what I was making. But, the medical benefits, vacation days, etc., were SO MUCH better! I would have taken a small pay cut just to get the benefits. And, you need to consider quality of life also, when taking a job. If the new job has less stress, or a better commute, or more flexibility, then that can trump a mediocre salary, IMO.

It depends. Right now my husband gets benefits through his job so I don't need healthcare. I would personally rather get paid more and not have healthcare provided. PTO would matter to me though, but again it would depend on my situation. How much time off do I need? In my younger years I needed and took very little, so again the salary would be more important. But I agree, when looking at a compensation package you have to evaluate the entire package and not just look at the salary.

good points. I never take healthcare due to being on my husband's. When I first started my job they would pay me 100 a month for not taking it. They stopped that.
I guess that 100 a month was killing them lol
Meanwhile had I taken the health insurance it would have cost them way more than $100 a month.
I remember when I was negotiating my salary I said and I also wont' be taking insurance- knowing it was a big savings to them and hoping it would give some flex on the salary

Yes - my old company used to do the same since I waived benefits and stopped as well. Annoying indeed as the money was definitely less than if they had to cover my health insurance, along with my family.
I do take into account PTO when looking at job offers as that flexibility is important to me. At my last job, which was very short term, I had a lot of PTO and I was stupid not to ask more about it as I had to accrue it before I could take it so I was constantly unpaid and in the hole.

My husband now gets $50/month since he takes my insurance.

absolutely. Dh took a new job recently and with bonus, RSUs, and retirement benefits, his salary was almost 50k more. It's important to negotiate the base pay as high as you can, though. Bonuses are mever a guarantee

Yes this. The benefits I get with my company add about $30-40K to my salary. I would absolutely consider that if I ever took on another position.

I’ve never had health benefits outlined in an offer letter. Usually I would be sent all the benefits information separately to review before I accepted the job.
I would also take the benefits into consideration even if you don’t need them right now. You never know what could happen in the future.
