Have any of your students ever said anything really really nasty to you?
This happened to me for the first time on Friday. I'm not going to say what it was...but it was a racial slur towards me from a 3rd Grader I was shocked. I called the AP immediately and he was removed. It was upsetting to me.

I was upset when one of my students said in response to me letting them know thier grades are dropping
"Well I guess youre not teaching us good enough then" and then he shrugged and smirked

Re: Have any of your students ever said anything really really nasty to you?
My first year teaching....a 7th grade boy. I was telling them about how my brother was in the war in Iraq, and they were asking me questions. One boy said to me "I hope your brother dies and never comes back from Iraq". Possibly the meanest thing anyone has ever said to me. I went to the Principal. She called him into her office immediately and yelled at him for about 30 minutes (while I sat there crying still). The next day, he was placed in In-School Suspension, and officially removed from my class. His parents were called in and they apologized to me. His new teacher was a close friend of mine, and I don't think she went out of her way to welcome him into her class.

Re: Have any of your students ever said anything really really nasty to you?
I ha a 6th grade boy tell me I had a great rack. Then when I called home his father said, "Well my son doesn't lie." Thank god it was the last week of school.
Then the other day one of my 2nd graders asked me about the baby kicking in my belly. I told her the baby was sleeping right now and she then said "Well you know the baby could have died." I was shocked! I just told her no I know the baby is ok because I just felt the baby before.
I told my principal and told her I was not calling the mom but I found it strange that a 7 year old would say or know something like that.

Re: Have any of your students ever said anything really really nasty to you?
When I was student teaching, there was this one girl who was constantly difficult with me. She came from a broken home..well, one day I bent down to help her while she was at her desk..the top of my underwear showed (a little)..she proceeded to tell the whole class the color of my underwear and wouldn't stop....there was one other incident that put me over the top and I reported her to my teacher...

Something very similar happened to me, and I brought the boy to the principal, made that boy repeat what he had said, and the principal didn't do a damn thing about it!!! Needless to say, I do not work at that school any more!!!

I had an 11th grader say something rude to me on Friday. But that is the way it goes in HS. They forget that they are talking to an adult and not a peer. I wrote up a behavioral referral and he will be dealt with after vacation.

Re: Have any of your students ever said anything really really nasty to you?
During my first year, a kid got mad at me for some reason, I forget why. So he wrote up a petition, calling me a racist and that I cursed at the kids, etc. and circulated it. Half the class signed it without reading it. It's the only thing a kid's ever said/done to me that's made me cry.
Though I saw this same kid about a year later, after he'd graduated 8th grade. He was on his way to court because he'd been busted for robbery. I usually feel bad when these kids get into trouble like that, even though they usually bring it on themselves, but not this time. I hate to admit how smug I felt, but I did.

This was in Mryland, the Unions aren't the same as in NY, they won't have done anything about it.
