A lot of parents aren't gettign their kids immunized anymore, so a lot of older diseases like polio, mumps are coming back.

Maybe he was not immunized. I believe that you get measles, mumps and rubella in one shot.
The idea of polio coming back is scary.

What/where do you teach? I thought you still had to get the MMR shot to get into NYS public schools & that most private schools followed the same requirements.

Not true in NY state, you can claim religious grounds for not immunizing. (My sister didn't immunize her kids).
