Question about Yay or Nay threads..

If you start a "yay or nay" thread, and get mostly "nays", do you not purchase the item? I don't always understand this because obviously we all have different styles, so who's to say something you like I will like?

I've def. started threads asking people if they prefer A or B, but I don't know if I'd care enough about other people's opinions to not buy something I clearly like since I picked it out.

Not trying to be rude at all... Chat Icon

Re: Question about Yay or Nay threads..

the very few times I have posted a yay or nay thread was when I was on the fence about something. it wasn't something that I *loved*, but I thought "well... maybe"

So if you got mostly nay's, did you not buy it anyway?

I guess I'd ask a friend who knows me and my style over a group of people on a message board. Not to say you're wrong for doing so, I was just curious...

ditto, although there are exceptions to the rule.

I had posted about a bcbg coat and mostly everyone didnt like it, I ended up buying it and I love it.Chat Icon

from what I remember, what I did post got mostly "yays". I think it was shoes from payless - I needed something quick for an interview and there is one very close to where I live.

if it got mostly nays, I probably would have bought them anyway since they were comfy and CHEAP! Chat Icon

If I get a lot of nays and really like the item, I'll still get it. I just like to see other people's reactions.

I posted something once that everyone hated (I think one person gave it the Chat Icon - which is completely unnecessary - nay is just fine). I don't care. I bought it and love it. Chat Icon

Re: Question about Yay or Nay threads..

no way

sometimes i have already ordered the item - it wouldn't affect me if others didn't like it - i just like to gauge just how many people might hate it !!!

Re: Question about Yay or Nay threads..

I have only posted one yay or nay thread, but I had no intention of buying the item at all. I just wanted other people's opinions because my girlfriend had said it was cute and I wasn't sure if I agreed or not.

For me personally, if I have to post a thread getting other people's opinions then I shouldn't buy it because obviously I don't love it. Every time I buy something that I'm not sure of it just sits in my closet.

Re: Question about Yay or Nay threads..

Usually I am on the fence, so I do take the yay or nay seriously. Plus, I'm trying to become more trendy, so I like to see people's opinions on the things I want to buy. In the past it has helped because I'll end up finding something I like even better (I posted a Michael Kors bag that was too square and ended up getting a Kooba hobo on ebay that I adore).
