SO WAIT, I pour the allready made formula in the bottle and put that in a pot and bring to boil to heat it up- is this wrong? how do i heat it up coming out of the fridge?
I always used powder and then room temp water so I never had to heat his bottle up but I have always heard that you should never heat anything up in plastic.
omg, thank you for telling me this!!!! I dont know how Im going to warm it up though, I wonder if I boil the water take off the stove and then place the bottle in that water to warm it up?

when I would give EBM, I would heat a mug of water for 1 minute in the microwave and then let the bottle sit in that for a minute.

when I see them being pulled from shelves that is when I will make the switch
Switch to what? According to the article Avent, Dr. Brown's, Evenflo, Gerber and Playtex are all having the same problem. Are there any other brands of bottles out there? Nothing like making parents worry about something until all the facts are in.

I do the same thing. What about sterilizing bottles? We bring them to a boil. Isn't that heating up plastic?

Yes but it cools and you are not heating up water in it and feeding it to your baby.
Groovypeg just posted JPMA's statement concerning bottles, THESE BOTTLES ARE SAFE!
I wouldn't worry right now, these studies are insane.
Plastics are safe otherwise we would have to throw out and not use alot of all things we eat, use and put on our bodies everyday. Just think of everything that's made of plastic, these companies are not out to poisin us.

This is exactly what I did if I wasn't using powdered formula (which I gave w/ room temp bottled water).

I have been doing this for the past 10.5 months. The water gets to a boiling point though and even though the plastic is warm his formula is luke warm.

But who heats the water in bottle to a boiling point in the bottle then gives it to DC?
I wouldn't put a plastic bottle in boiling water on the stove to warm it though.
I doubt any of us do!
Take these things with a grain of salt, until i see proof real concrete studies of normal use of plastic leaching into anything then i'll go to glass.
Normal use meaning, lukewarm water heating bottles in bottle warmer, microwaving for 20 seconds.
Hey while we are at it, stop drinking juice, soda, water, basically any kind of food, liquid we ingest out of plastic bottlesa and don't warm your lunch in rubbermaid, tupperware, gladware, etc. either.
If it doesn't directly come from the enviroment there's always a risk of something somewhere, you always have to weigh the risks vs benefits and that's true for everything in our life.
FOr now, i will keep drinkkng my bottled water, putting my leftovers in plastic containers and giving my DD her advent bottles.
Rant done
Basically!! I agree-
