Potentially dangerous situation in my neighborhood..UPDATE
I have a neighbor across the street from me (let me add I do not like any of my neighbors across the street at all), who, after her husband died bought a german shepard. The dog is probably about a year old. A few months ago I pulled into my driveway and this neighbor was talking to another neighbor and had her dog on a leash. I get out of my car and get DS out I put him down, DS didnt even look in the dogs direction, he was facing my house and all of a sudden I hear barking and nail scrapping against the street.
This f******* dog saw my baby and LUNGED at him pulling the neighbor almost across the street, if the other woman she was talking to didnt help control the dog he would have attacked us. Then this B***h has the nerve to give me a dirty look, like it was my fault W T F? No sorry nothing.
Fast forward to yesterday my neighbors (that I love!!) tell me that this dog mauled a shih tzu down the block AND bit a kid (the son of the woman who helped control the dog in my situation). All in 1 day. She begged the 2 women not to press charges, that she will pay all medical bills. Her excuse is that the dog doenst like small animals or children or baby carriages
This is nuts, I think this dog should be reported, there is a serious potential for danger here. And God help her if this dog comes within inches of my son.
ETS: small children and babies outnumber the adults on my street (a deadend), so this dog is going to be having a lot of contact with carriages and small kids
UPDATE: So I did report this lady and her Dog on the 19th. Today i was outside with DH and a cop car pulls up to her house. I couldnt really hear to well but I did hear her yell "my dog isnt vicious he just gets spooked" I'm sure my next door neighbor will get the full story. I'm glad I did it because there are about 20 kids outside as we speak and the dog is no where to be seen

REPORT IT!!!!
What does the dog like - her! That is such crap!!
You should not have to worry about getting your child out of a car, out of your front door - no no - this dog needs to be reported!!
And not for nothing - how does she know what the dog likes or dislikes - has it done it to others????

Re: Potentially dangerous situation in my neighborhood
Since it has attacked, I would say report it definately!
We had a german shepard mix that barked at people in the street (always on a leash) but once it was told to stop, she would.
When there is one attack, there will be others. DEFINATELY report it.

Apparently, he took off after a carriage in the early fall, thankfully my (good) neighbor was able to grab him before he did any damage, she chalked it up to him being a puppy
He barks constantly at the kids from inside his house. Oh and the kid he bit, is about 12 soooooo her small child theory is kaput

Absolutely report it. I can't help but think of that LI woman that was mauled and killed in SF as she entered her own apt. I hope the kids are safe. I'm not a big scary dog lover.

Yea - I would still report it. What if no one is there and you are outside, I would never want to take the chance. And obviously she can't control the dog.

Re: Potentially dangerous situation in my neighborhood
Absolutely report it!!!! I have someone like this around the corner from me. This German Shepard is so aggressive that he scares the sh*t out of me everytime I go for a walk. Mind you I have a 75lb American Bulldog with me (whose built like a pitbull) and she shakes when we pass. I am a huge dog lover- HUGE but GS's can be shady and this dog sounds totally dangerous, like he can really do some harm. I am a responsible dog owner. I understand my big dog looks scary and I respect people around me with her. She gets crated when I have someone fearful coming over and I have a privacy PVC fence surrounding my property so she cannot get out. Owners like this give largebreed dog owners a bad name!! It's ridiculous.......
BTW if I was the other neighbor who had my dog mauled I'd go after her homeowners insurance!!!

Re: Potentially dangerous situation in my neighborhood
I would DEFINITELY report it. DH was attacked by a dog when he was 5 and had his lower lip almost ripped off. He still has the scar from where it was reattached.

Re: Potentially dangerous situation in my neighborhood
I was bit by a German Shepard when I was little and I had to have stiches on my lips! I say report it before a child goes through that or worse!
BTW: I am a dog lover and I have 2 dogs (lab and Great Dane) but I just got rid of my first Great Dane when he got out and attacked another dog. I wouldn't let any animal showing aggression near my children.

No doubt report it...especially if your neighbor is so "whatever" about her potentially very dangerous dog

Please report this dog and its owner. I too am a huge dog lover, but this dog sounds downright viscious. The warm weather is coming and this whole situation just has "DISASTER" written all over it. Good luck and keep us posted!
