How do you make sausage and peppers?

I know its a dumb question, but DH wants this tonight. Do i just saute the peppers and onions and then throw in the sausage? Any special ingredients?

I cook the sausages first, I think that takes the most time. I either leave the sausages whole or cut them up into pieces.

If there's room in the fry pan I usually add the peppers and onions, if not just fry them up in a seperate pan and I cook them until they are really soft - that's how I like them.

Re: How do you make sausage and peppers?

I make them 2 ways

Garlic, onions, peppers (mushrooms too) & sausages and add a can of diced tomatoes or a little tomato sauce to add some liquid

or

onions, peppers, & sausages and a little BBQ sauce.

Re: How do you make sausage and peppers?

i bake in the oven or on the BBQ, too messy to fry for me!
i slice 5 red bell peppers(healthier&sweeter than green)
1 large onion
a couple of smashed garlic cloves
s&p
sometimes I'll put a potato in-depending on what else Im making..
and sometimes Ill add a touch of tomato paste-
put all the ingredients in a tin pan-add EVOO,maybe a drop of white wine-cover w/tin foil
bake on 450 till peppers soften, then take off the foil add the pinwheel thin sausage(with cheese&parsley) to the pan-bake till sausage is thoroughly cooked & brown
take out the sausage&cut into 2" pieces and mix into pepper/onion mixture & serve!

This is how I do mine. I bake my sausages though... put them in about an inch of water and throw them in the oven. Turn them halfway through and add more water if necessary. I use any excess water/fat when cooking my peppers and onions.

I also like to use primarily cubanelle peppers - but I will add a few different peppers for color and flavor. Like - 10 cubanelle, 1 red bell, 1 jalapeno, 1 orange or yellow bell..

Re: How do you make sausage and peppers?

I use Shaddy Brook Farms Turkey Sausage (so flavorful and yummy), cut them into pieces, and cook in a pan.

I put the sausage in a seperate dish and add EVOO to the same pan. I slice green/red peppers, onions, and also add mushrooms. Let them soften up. Than I add about a tablespoon of tomato paste.

I add no salt because the sausage is very tastey..
