Re: Curves

Curves will work for you just the same as any other gym IF you put the work in.

I chose not to join Curves though because the cost seemed VERY high for the hours they had. I THINK it was like almost $45 a month!!!! Too limited for me!! I have an eratic schedule & their hours did not fit my lifestyle.

But I will share that when I ate healthy & worked out at least 4 days a week, I lost 50 pounds in 11 months!!

Most any gym will offer organized group type exercise. For example, Synergy does a Circuit class maybe 2 times a week and then at least 2 times a week there are free weight classes ect. Lucille Roberts had the same when I belonged there.

Re: Curves

I think Curves is a good place to start...if you're not very active, you will SWEAT when you go there (as I still do LOL). However, I think that a year is about as long as you can stay there before you need to step up.

I'm feeling that it's starting to get a little too routine for me. But trust me, it's a great place to start. Chat Icon

I use to be very active- and in great shape... but since have DS Im holding an extra 25lbs... my eating habits are terrible, and other than chasing him around.. I do not excercise at all!!!

I like the idea of the org. excercise, w/o just working out one area...

Ideally Im looking to lose 20-30lbs and just get rid of some of the baby flab on my gut and arms!

Re: Curves

I did Curves for a year. It was quick and easy, but I thought overpriced for what it is, and not the ideal way to lose weight/tone up. If you want to lose weight I would advise concentrating on weights, which Curves does not stress. It's a good cardio workout, but even if you do weights in between cardio you are not really doing enough to make a difference. I think it will make changes for people who go from doing nothing to doing Curves 1/2 hour 5 days a week, but if you can make a commitment to a combination of weights and cardio at a gym I think you will see faster/better results.

Re: Curves

I did Curves for a year, the only time I had success with it was when I combined it with a modified Atkins diet. You get out of it what you put into it. I wound up joining LA Fitness for $10 more a month and had much better success. They also have better hours and equipment...and a pool

Re: Curves

my mom's been going there for a few years and likes it... i went with her for a while but felt like it didn't do anything for me because i was too active prior, so it wasn't enough of a challenge for my body. if you're just starting to exercise, i think it's a great thing.
