Microwave Sterilizer
How many of you have a microwave sterilizer for bottles and actually use it?
We have a dishwasher and it is broken....we could always sterilize the bottles in boiling water. Is it easier to just keep the sterilizer that we got as a shower gift?

Re: Microwave Sterilizer
We used the Avent microwave sterilizer for both kids, and we LOVED it! It was much easier than sterilizing with boiling water. Even though we have a dishwasher, we used the microwave as well for the first 3 months.

I used that thing for a year!! Mostly it was because my DH is so anal, but I loved it too.

Re: Microwave Sterilizer
I used to use the dishwasher but sometimes it is tempramental and would leave residue in the bottles... so I decided to buy another microwave steralizer and I wash them with a bottle/nipple brush and then use the Avent steralizer. I love it!!!!!!!! I think it's great. Initially I had a First Years steralizer and while PG when getting the bottles ready for DD's arrival...it melted on the inside!!!!!!!!!! So I started using the dishwasher and that didn't work out well. Now I am using the Avent and love it!!! I definitely reccommend it!

Re: Microwave Sterilizer
I have 3 kids. Using plain old hot water will work. I always used the dishwasher and every so often used the bottle brush to get stuff out and clean the nipples. There is really no reason to go crazy with sterlizing. Kids usually catch things from hand germs than any other way. So relax. You'll be fine.

Re: Microwave Sterilizer
I have an Advent microwave sterlizer and use Dr. Brown's bottles....DD is 4 months and I still use it. I know it's probably not necessary but I feel it gets the bottles cleaner. I use the dishwasher on occassion, but sometimes it leaves residue.
