HELP.. I think something is wrong with fred.. pls dont move!

Fred is acting really weird and I am scared!

He is outside eating a TON of grass... now I know dogs do this when their stomachs are upset but usually he justs chews on a little.. he is eating a TON of grass all over the yard.

I cant get near him. Everytime I go near him he growls at me and he never does that!!! I tried bribing him with all his favorite things and I cant get him inside.

What do I do?!!?!?!?!?

Is it possible he ate something recently that could be upsetting his stomach? He could really be feeling yucky and just doesn't want anyone near him. How long has he been out there? Watch him and call him, see if he comes to you in another minute or two.

How long has he been out there and have you noticed him vomit or try to vomit? He might have just ate something he shouldn't have. Poor Fred!

He isnt feeling well and probably needs to stay outside to puke his lil brains out and doesnt want to come in yet. I feel so bad for him right now. Is he still growling? after you finally do get him in, in the am I would take him to the vet unless when he comes in and is still acting strangly call an emergency vet hospital and tell them what hes doing and see what they say, good luckChat Icon

Go check all your cabinets, medicine cabinets, garage, anywhere there might be something he could have gotten into.

Also, what about his pet food, is it new? A different kind than normal?

If you're satisfied he didn't get into something bad, can you call an emergency vet hospital for advice?

Could he have gotten into something when you weren't home (inside or outside?). That's what usually happens with my mom's dogs when they're not feeling well, they've usually gotten into something and they don't want anyone near them for a little bit...unfortunately it's dark now, but maybe see if you can tell if he's gotten sick or anything outside, and try to call him over to you again. He should snap out of it once his belly feels better.

Re: HELP.. I think something is wrong with fred.. pls dont move!

ok so this is gross BUT my dog does this sometimes - when there is cat poo in the grass - he runs back and forth and rubs himself all over it and then chews on grass like a madman ( and i guess he is chewing the poo also)

it is really gross but i can usually lure him away with one of his forbidden treats ( like rawhide or something i only give him once a month)

i hope its just that!! keep us updated.

Re: HELP.. I think something is wrong with fred.. pls dont move!

So during the day he is sectioned off in the kitchen and he cant get to anything. Like I said, once I got home he ate and was by me the entire time.

I looked around outside and I didnt see any evidence of him being sick.

I finally got him in with a hand full of food and he drank a TON of water. He is acting ok now.. but definitely a little irritable.

Ill keep an eye on him ... but I am worriedChat Icon

Is is belly bloated at all?

Just keep an eye on him and if anything seems off, I'd call the vet to be sure.

i am NOT an expert but it sounds to me like there is some kind of "evidence" from another animal - maybe a cat. raccoon, possum etc. ( not sure of what area you live in)

definitely keep an eye one him though - but please dont panic!

Re: HELP.. I think something is wrong with fred.. pls dont move!

Drinking lots of water usually means upset belly (not to mention that he was eating lots of grass). He may end up vomitting because of all the water he drank, so be on the lookout!

Do you think maybe he had a fight with another animal or even ate something like a small bird? It reminds me of the way Oscar acted when he had just attacked a baby squirrel.

Man the first thing I thought was bloat -- in which case your dog would need IMMEDIATE attention!!

SOOOO glad to hear he isn't bloated -- it is very scary!!

How is Fred today???????
