How do you feel about Roosevelt Field? Do you feel safe going there?
Honestly the last time we went there which was before Mother's Day was probably the last time I will go there. I do NOT feel safe there at all and would not fee comfortable going there by myself.
How do you feel about RF?

I know what happened today but regardless Ive always felt safe there.
same here. i've been there with dh and by myself. its safer than the mall within walking distance from my hoouse

honestly, since my sisters co-worker (at the old B Dalton book store) got kidnapped and raped in the parking lot, I am always SO CAREFUL! I won't go alone at night and even during the day, I try to get the best spot I can and I am always looking around me.

I don't go to Roosevelt Field, Sunrise or South Shore mall at night alone.
With friends, fine...but all three of those malls seem to have a higher crime rate.
I have no problem, so far, going to Walt Whitman or Smithhaven.

No offense because I know what mall you are talking about and I agree! Its also much safer than my neighborhood mall

No offense because I know what mall you are talking about and I agree! Its also much safer than my neighborhood mall
gee thanks heather dh hates that mall with a passiion. he used to work there. he calls it a zoo. it i need something fast, i just run in there. i don't care for the s tores. we don't mind the drive to roosevelt field

What happened there today?
I work in Garden City Plaza, which is directly across from the mall on the mall grounds. I leave there late at night alone all the time 
I won't walk to the mall from work anymore, because I had a strange guy try to hit on me once when I was walking to the mall for lunch from my building.

OMG...when did that happen
sometime in the early 90's
my sis and her co-worker both got out of work at the same time and walked out togther, but parked in different places. I get sick to my stomach when I think that could have happened to my sis instead

yes i feel safe there. regardless of what happened there today i will always shop at RF. i'm very alert as to my surroundings and as soon as i get in my car i lock the doors.
RF is like a second home to me, i've shopped there all my life. i know EXACTLY where to park to get a spot right in the front and i will never park where there are no other cars.

not for nothing, something always happens there weather it is small or big... its a matter of you finding out about it. No matter where you go, you have to be aware of your surroundings, weather your directly invloved in the matter or its a random person

I always felt safe going there! I work right by there- and go there often on my lunch break.
After hearing what happened today- I am really nervous about going there by myself- especially since I am 6.5 months pregnant!

but I might go back to valet parking- it's free at Bloomies and Nordstrom with your card-

I feel the same way!
I RARELY go there and if I do it's b/c I absolutely have to and it's BEFORE 6 or 7pm and it's usually with DH.
The first time I ever went there my Dad said "why are you going there?" so I explained that b/c it's big and I had never been, etc. and he goes- If you are going to go, fine but go with friends or someone-- and don't stay there past dark...
After I went I was like  and realized why he didn't want me going but he didn't want to "baby" me and tell me not to go.

RF, Sunrise and SS... they are shady at BEST at night.

RF isn't my favorite of all malls, and I wouldn't go at night alone. But I usually feel ok during the day - what happened today?
