Ladies...how do you tone? Any exercise recommendations for me?

I am doing WW, I do the elliptical about 4 times a week for 1/2 an hour..

But now I'd like to really add weight training to the mix. I've tried it a few times but have no real "plan". I need to tone my entire body and will be taking a body conditioning course mon and wed mornings...

What do you all do when you weight train? How long for each session? Just curious, I'd love to hear your plans!

***wanted to add that i am MOST interested in toning arms and midsection but need it all over!

if you are new to weights, maybe you can take a toning class and learn a whole bunch.

If you are just beginning then you want to tone 2-3 time a week.
2-3 sets per muscle.
Shouldn't take more than about 30-45 minutes, unless you really rush or take long breaks.

I would not worry about super setting and getting fancy with the program until you really start getting into it and need to prevent plateauing.

Here are the major general exercises:
-Bicep curls/hammer curls
-Tricep kickbacks/dips/pull downs
-Chest press/flies
-Military press/front raises/lateral raises/reverse flies
-Bent over rows
-Deadlifts
-Lower back extension
-Squats
-Lunges
-Inner thigh/outter thigh lifts
-Calf raises
-Abs/upper-lower-obliques

Hope it helps!

Thank you!! That definitely helps...I am pretty much a beginner also, so it always is good to get advice from others who are more advanced.

Thanks again!

You know what I do? I keep the weights in my living room. When I'm watching TV, have a few minutes, whatever, I just pick them up and do several sets... I mean, you are in the living room watching your show anyway - do a set each commercial - its a great way to tone during your day or evening!!!

I have the Biggest Loser DVD (the TV show has a workout DVD). I swear by it, I have lost a ton of weight by eating right and using that DVD. It has 2 15 minute workouts using weights and they're great! I've toned up my arms legs and midsection using it.

Pilates! Great for toning arms and stomach.
