Travel experts-- Better airport for a connection?

Cincinnatti or Atlanta?

Traveling to Colorado and my only option is a short layover in either airport. Both layovers are about 45 mins to an hour... I am A LITTLE nervous since that is cutting it close in case my first flight is late, etc.-- was wondering which airport had the best records.

Also, if I have to connect-- does it matter if it's at night, or early in the day? I am trying to decide whether or not to take a Fri night flight, or a Sat AM flight-- I'd rather fly out Fri, so I will have all day Sat in CO, but what if I miss my connection and there are no more flights out at night?

I don't know why I can't make a decision!

I believe ATL is very busy...that might work for or against your connection


I cant stand the worry about missing connecting flights so I try to never choose those

When I have to, I try to get the one with the most layover just in case of a delay

i had to make a connection in atlanta once. its a huge airport. i came in at gate a and had to go to gate e. i was running since i didn't think i would make the connection. i think its bigger than jfk

I've had connection issues at both of these airports...

They are both very large, Atlanta is probably bigger but, in Cincinnati, there is a chance you may need to take a shuttle bus to and from a terminal. It is large as well.

In the summer, it's better to fly earlier in the day to guarantee you will arrive at the destination. Late day t-storms, even if they aren't where you are coming and going from, tend to snarl travel and have planes delayed/rerouted.

If your connection is the same airline then you'll be in the same terminal. It's only when you completely change airlines, you would possibly have to worry about going to a different terminal.

You're doing a domestic travel so everything should be in the same terminal.

From a travel agents opinion, Cincinatti over ATL only b/c we are in rainy season and hurricane season. The weather is incredably unpredicable in the south right now. You could run into delays or cancellations.

i have nearly missed several connecting flights in atlanta, so i would not choose to connect there with under an hour.
