Observations for Untenured Teachers - POLL
How many observations are required for untenured teachers in your district?
In my district, untenured teachers have 6 observations per year, and then once tenured, it's only once a year.
One more year til tenure!!! YAY!!!

6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am in NYC and it's only 4! ANd they are not allowed to write up pop ins

I wish! With our "new" contract, admins are able to write up pop-ins as LONG as they announce it as they walk in the room. Blech!

Tell me about it!!! 6 more observations left until tenure for me!!! By the time I get tenured next year, I will have had FORTY TWO observations under my belt! I worked in the city for a year, had a few leaves, and then found the district that I'm in. PHEW!!!

We have 4. Two from a building administrator and two from a director. THen there is also a portfolio that needs to be presented to your principal, director and assistant superintendent.

Wow -- that is a lot of observations! Before I had tenure, I was never even observed as many times as i should have been-- my last name was at the end of the alphabet and they always forgot about me. After tenure, they don't observe you at all.
