Can Someone help me with Above Ground pool?

I desperately want to get an above ground pool. (Semi Inground, really I would like to be able to swim.) I live over in Mastic Beach by the bay and I rent so I have to be careful what I do. I have heard that in suffolk county the whole yard needs to be fenced to have a pool? Does anyone here have one and can you tell me how much it cost you in the end to put it up? Anything else I should know about doing this? TIA!

Because I love to swim. My SO is against it because we rent but I don't see why i should have to wait for IDk how many years before I get to swim.

Re: Can Someone help me with Above Ground pool?

they can run you over 5k, especially for a semi inground. I would NEVER spend that kind of money if I rented.
Dont you have a community pool in your town? or go to a town park they have pools too. I think jones beach has a pool too. I know it may not be the same or the convenience but why would you spend that kind of money to enhance someone elses property?

Jones Beach is over an hour away, so thats a no go. Plus I like privacy and being able to do as I please. *sigh* I guess I just wont get one.

I agree.

I would also be surprised if a land lord would go for that because of insurance/liability issues in addition to the costs involved (electric to heat the pool & run the pumps, chemicals, cleaning, etc).

I moved into a house that already had one that was in a bad state it has cost me a small fortune to get it up and running and it still isn't ready for summer - it's not just the cost of the install but the upkeep that drains the finances

Why not do one of those new blow up...non permanent INTEX pools. It may not be visually as nice as a semi-inground...but they are cheap and can move with you.

I am not sure your landlord will go for that mainly for liability/insurance issues. You need a fence if the yard is not fenced already. He/she may still not want you too.

Now with a pool and fence, you are talking major expenses.

I would belong to a YMCA or fitness club with a pool first.

Re: Can Someone help me with Above Ground pool?

We have an above ground, partially semi in ground due to the grade of our back yard. In Riverhead a pool over 48" high does not need a fence around it. They make AG pools with fences around the top of them. I think we spent $5000ish on the pool itself.

The beach and a pool are two very different things. Besides, if you knew what I know about what is in the ocean you wouldn't want to swim in it either. Ever wonder where the trash from NYC goes? Yep. Ocean. Even the sewage system floods right into the ocean when we have heavy rain. So, yeah, no thanks. (haha)
