Re: Morning sickness.....

I had the worst MS, up untill today actiually, i was puking 8-10 times a day and lost 10 pounds, i could not eat..or drink, they put me on zofran and it helped...try sniffing lemons and eating ice pops, that helped me...also in regards to your HB post, if you are having bad MS its a great sign, im sure the HB will start very soon

Re: Morning sickness.....

I'm sorry....Stay hydrated, eat small meals, get rest. Alot of us turned to bagels, they seemed to help. A few people swore by smelling lemons that it helped. In extreme cases, your OB can give you Zofran to stop the vomiting, if it's more than a few times a day. My OB had actually suggested Unisom that has B6 in it. I still don't know why but I've heard it helps. Good luck!

I'm sick as well.. I feel like I don't want to eat anything. Did anyone lose weight around this time?

No, I just didn't gain. Some people do lose, though.

Re: Morning sickness.....

Ginger tea seems to be the only thing that helps me. Ginger Ale for some reason was actually making me more nasaues. I think I associate it with the stomach virus.

Also my doctor changed my prenatels to Premesis because she said it had B something that was supposed to help with the morning sickness.

Re: Morning sickness.....

Carbs helped me a LOT in the 1st trimester. Bagels were a godsend. As was sucking on mints.

Feel better

Bagels were great for me, and carbs in general. I gave up trying to force myself to eat foods I just found disgusting also (most vegetables, chicken, beef, etc.).

Also try some ginger ale or suck on ginger candy. That helped me. Also eating small amounts of food regularly helped. The minute I got hungry, I would start to feel sick.

If it's really bad though, and if you can't keep much food down, talk to your doctor.

Re: Morning sickness.....

to be completely honest - this may not be what you want to hear - absolutely nothing helped my morning sickness. i was miserable. i lost 10 pounds. and the worst part of it was that i wasn't able to drink, so i was very dehydrated. i didn't take zofran or any other meds - personal decision - but i did end up needing IV fluids both in the ER and at home.

the GOOD news is that at about 12 weeks it started to fade away, and by about 16-17 weeks it was completely gone. i am 22 weeks now and morning sickness free... have gained back the 10 pounds i lost and have put on another 3 on top of that.

so there is HOPE for you, even if not much helps in the moment - for the vast majority of people morning sickness DOES go away!! hang in there Chat Icon

Re: Morning sickness.....

Thank you for your honesty.. I"ve lost weight in the past week.. I'm now 7w1d and I'm trying to force myself to eat things... I've found recently that eating a little helps, but it's really the last thing I want to think about when I wake up in the morning.. thanks for letting us know there is an end in sight!!
