Middle Village

I think some of you have mentioned that you live in Middle Village. Can you tell me about your commute to Manhattan? We drove around today, but the homes that looked nice to us(near Juniper Park) were still kind of far from the M on Metropolitan. Also, I went to greatschools.net to look for the schools, I think PS 128 had the overall best ratings, but right now we live in Distric 26 (can only afford co-ops here in Bayside), so it's hard to compare. The reason we are even considering MV is b/c when I go back to work FT it will be in downtown Manhattan. The only other areas we are looking at are Floral Park/Bellerose on the Qns side, but I know that commute will be long too.
TIA!

Re: Middle Village

Wow. Talk about a small world. I lived in Middle Village and Bellerose.

In Middle Village, I lived off Fresh Pond Road and used to walk up Metropolitan Avenue to the M Train. I can remember it taking about an hour to get into the City (this was a long time ago). When I lived in Bellerose, I was off Hillside Avenue. This was a longer commute because I had to take the bus to Jamaica Avenue and, then catch the train to the City. At that time, I worked at the World Trade Center and the commute was almost two hours because I went to the end of the line. Both areas were great. Again, I lived in both places quite a long time ago.

Re: Middle Village

I used to live in Ridgewood which is on the M line. It's the 2nd stop after Metro. I hated the commute. I work in midtown on the west side and had to take 3 subways. It took at least an hour, usually 1:15. If you work downtown it's perfect though - about a 30 minute ride.

Re: Middle Village

I grew up in Maspeth, which is practically next door to MV, and the houses are pretty nice. My sister lives off 69th St. As for getting the M train, I know the #67 bus stops on 69th st, and turns right on Metro and stops across the street from the station. (I went to Christ the King HS, so that was my stop)

Re: Middle Village

If you live near 69th street you can take the Q67 to the Metropolitan Avenue M train. Otherwise you can take thh QM 24 Downtown Express bus.

Re: Middle Village

I live in Middle Village. When I went to grad school in the city, I frequently took either the Q29 or Q38 to Queens Blvd. to catch the R/V trains. It took me about 35 minutes to get into Midtown. Otherwise I take the M at Metropolitan Ave (1st stop) and catch another train that will take me to midtown.
