Thank you emails after interview

I know my interview went very well and I know I am the best candidate for the job (Sincce I am the only one with 6th grade experience to interview)but I think District Office already has someone else in plan for the position. I'm pretty sure this was a courtesy interview.

I would still like to thank the people who I meet with today. What is the best type of thank you to write? At the end of my interview I did tell them that I was leaving this Friday for vacation. Would it be alright to include something along the fact of that if you need to reach me you can call my cell phone? TIA

Absolutely, that sounds fine. A thank-you e-mail can never hurt. If anything, it shows that you have proper etiquette and good people skills. And definitely let them know your cell number! That way you're not jumpy all vacation, wishing you could go home and check your messages.

great idea!!! I did this when I interviewed years ago... it keeps all the doors open just in case!!!
