Attn: ELA teachers
do you have any "fun" or creative ideas to present nouns and verbs to my 7th grade summer school class on Monday.
They think that they should just be playing games, etc. bc "it's only summer school" and they fight me on traditional work. I am trying to make it easier on them and myself by making it fun, but nouns and verbs are nouns and verbs. I can't think of anything.
I did find a version of charades where they have to act out a noun or a verb, that could be fun. Any other ideas? TIA

Re: Attn: ELA teachers
Brian p. Cleary has a set of silly books for verbs, nouns, etc. They are not quite 7th grade level, but I am a big fan of making things silly to get a point across. You could also do a sorting type game with lots of words on cards around the room and the kids need to collect and sort them according to usage. MadLibs are always fun too..
