those of you who were successful on WW

Any tricks of the trade?

Did you start working out too?

Was anyone successful without joining a gym?

What was your typical weight loss in the first weeks?

sorry so many ????, just trying to do this right and who better to learn from than those who've been successful on WW

Re: those of you who were successful on WW

I (and I know this is awful) did not make working out part of my equation for a couple of reasons. I lost 100% by counting points.

I resigned myself to considering any loss or even staying the same as a positive- I did not set high expectations because I felt if I did, I might not meet them and would give up. Patience was a huge key. Ultimately anything that was not a gain was going to get me closer to my goal. I had quit diets too many times and failed too many times to set my expectations too high.

My first week, I lost 4 pounds.

From then on I lost anywhere from none to 1 pound per week. Sometimes I would have losses of between one and 2 pounds, but not frequently. How much you lose has to do with the extent to which you are overweight and how "old" the weight is. The "older" the weight, the longer it takes to come off.

Any questions, feel free to FM!

ETA: I made sure NEVER to make myself feel DEPRIVED!

Re: those of you who were successful on WW

I don't know if I'd consider myself a success since I haven't been through maintenance & haven't hit goal yet. I'm down 20+ lbs.

Any tricks of the trade?

I drank a ton of water & ate vegetables first at meals.

If I had a "bad" day, I started fresh the next day, took the excess points from my 35 but always continued counting points & continued to eat all of my points.

I think the big thing was I became a "conscious eater". Rather than eat & not think about it, I made a decision about eating. Is it worth the points?

I strongly agree on not depriving yourself. I had a WW cookies & ice cream as a treat.

Did you start working out too?
No. I occassionally went for walks with my co-worker who is on it also.

Was anyone successful without joining a gym?
I haven't joined a gym yet. I want to since I'd rather be more toned & in shape now.

What was your typical weight loss in the first weeks?
2-5 lbs the first few weeks. After that it was about a pound a week.

I think the most important thing is to not give up. It can be done. You can do this! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: those of you who were successful on WW

That is awesome!!

I was on weight watchers for about 4 months, and my first week I lost 6lbs, the next couple of weeks 2lbs, and then it really started going down to nothing, usually less than 1 lb a week. I gave up shortly after, and now follow a half-assed diet (with WW points) and am not losing quite as much as I should.

Lesson learned: go to the weekly weigh in's and the meetings!

I have another question, did you feel that the meetings helped in your loss or did you join online?
