Consequences: lose recess phone call/note home principal.......

Re: Rewards/Consequences
Individual Rewards: *Tickets (used for HW passes later on)
Class rewards: *20 min extra recess (our recess is really short) *20 min in computer lab (they love the educational online games) *One night of no HW *Lounge Day The class rewards are cumulative..they work up a chart to get them . It takes about two months to get to the first one (recess).
Consequences: *Bench at recess *Phone call home *Meeting w AP
There was an earlier thread re: this if you search you should be able to find it.

Re: Rewards/Consequences
you need to be very careful with anything food related, so I generally stay away from them. you will have to find out who has an allergy, who has religious issues, who's diabetic, etc.
much easier and less liability on you to do non-food rewards.

Lounge day is a Friday where the kids can wear "comfy" clothes. I let them wear their slippers and they can bring in a stuffed animal. I put a movie on and we have snacks. We got ONE lounge day in with rewards this year. We also get ONE after the ELA Exam and one after the Math Exam.

Re: Rewards/Consequences
A colleague gives out tickets for each good thing each individual child does and does a small raffle at the end of each week. There is a stack of prizes and the kids can pick- water bottles, stickers, snacks, homework passes, etc.

Re: Rewards/Consequences
I teach 1st grade and have used "responsive classroom" for my rules and consequences. The basis is that the consequences should be logical and fit the crime. We plan our rules ahead of time they go something like this...
Listen to the speaker treat others with kindness keep your body and voice in control take care of your classroom
They should be very broad so that anything can fit into one of the rules.. then I tell them the logical consequences..
You break it you fix it loss of privilege time out
again very open...
so for example if the rule broken was not listening to the speaker.. they might need to leave the carpet for a "timeout".. or if they hurt someones feelings.. "You break it you fix it".. how is the child going to fix the hurt feelings.. what can they do..make a card.. write them a note.. a warm apology.. of course this all depends on how severe the crime was.. :)
The children really learn to take responsibilty for their actions.. taking away recess really doesn't do anything.. expecially if you have an active child..it will just make it worse.
Sorry for the ramble.. :) I just thought I'd share.
