What do you think are your biggest obstacles you face in trying to achieve your diet and fitness goals?
What have you been doing or will try to do to overcome them?

Re: Spinoff to Goals: Obstacles
To answer my own question:
The biggest obstacle in my way is my work schedule. I work very long hours and it's not uncommon for me to work a 60+ hour week. As a result, it often leaves me very little time to work out. I also find myself grabbing dinner at work or on the way home because it's so late that I don't want to cook.
This is what I have been doing to try to prevent this:
1. I have been trying to get exercise in while doing other things. I try to walk 10 blocks home from the express stop subway instead of taking the local one stop to my apartment. I also try to walk to do all of my errands on the weekends. I am also trying to get on more of a "routine" for working out.
2. Food wise: Planning ahead works best for me. I try to bring a healthy breakfast and snacks. I need to work on bringing healthy lunches 2 or 3 times a week. Dinner still needs a lot of work! I need to get some easy healthy dinners I can plan ahead. I may also try cooking on the weekends so I have a few dinners for during the week. I also need to go food shopping on a more regular basis.

For me that's easy. My biggest obstacle is my social life - especially on the weekends. There always seems to be an occasion to celebrate, or a birthday to go out to dinner for.
I am not doing much to overcome it to be honest. I am not doing as much as I can do. If it's dinner out, I usually behave, but at a party I'm usually no holds barred.
What I am doing on the other hand is going out to dinner with DH less often than before. Now, when we want to eat "out" it's take out more often than not so that I can weigh, measure and be sure of how much I am eating.
Sometimes I just wish we lived in Idaho so I wouldn't have to go out so often. BUT I am very lucky to have such great family and friends that I would rather enjoy my day fully and just deal with the obstacle rather than always try and overcome them.

my obstacle is my fiance. He eats quickly and likes to eat big portions. I find myself eating more b/c of him. One thing I try to do is just focus on what I am eating and not concern myself with his plate.

This is my problem, too. I'm out of the house at least 11 hours a day and when I get home I just want to veg out. I try to eat healthy meals and snacks, but I want to tone up and just eating well won't do that.
My plan:
Force myself to take walks in the evening. DH and I used to take walks and it was so nice, so I'm going to try to bring back the after dinner walk.
Also, instead of just lounging on the couch when I get home, I'm going to try to do some around the house workouts and maybe even incorporate weights (I don't want to get too crazy here, though).

This is my problem too and now, to make things worse, I'm going to be traveling for work again.
I need to commit to going to the gym in the morning before work because I never know when I'll be home at night and I'm usually tired when I do get home.
I'm pretty good about planning ahead and either bringing something healthy or getting healthy food at work. I've found a number of health-conscious restaurants to order from on Seamless Web too, which is a big help.
