For girls that color their hair...I Need help

OK, my "natural" haircolor is considered to be dark blonde (looks brown to me, but all the hair people I go to say it's dark blonde). I usually get highlights and lowlights, but you still see plenty of my natural haircolor.

NOW, the greys are coming and I wanted to try something differnt, so I went lighter and figured I'd have to go more often for touchups. Fine.
I THOUGHT that she'd do a single process, with some highlights/ lowlights, but she just did highlights and my hair looks like complete cr@p. There is no way I can wear my hair back (which I usually do for work). I'm going today to have it fixed, but I need help explaining what I want...
