Poll: Would it be unkind to give my child the initials LBS?
Our last name can't change, and we are pretty happy with the first name choice... so now we are arguing about middle names. Our current front runner begins with a "B" -- so her initials would be the abbreviation for pounds. Is that bad enough that we should pick a different name?
Forgive the fake name -- I'm a regular poster, but I just don't want family to know the name I choose in advance!

I couldn't figure out what was so bad about "LBS" or what it could possibly stand for until I read the rest of your post...so my vote is use the names you like!!!

The initials would never be written in lower case so I don't think people will see the correlation. Go for the names you love!

I didn't get it at first either until I read your post. Nobody is even going to notice that. And who really uses their middle name? In school and such she will use LS. I wouldn't think twice about it.

I think it's fine. When I first read your post I had no idea what the problem with the initals was. If you both love the name, go for it! Not many people will get LBS - unless I am just the slow one

I think it's totally fine. I don't think many people would even make that correlation.
Our #1 for a girl is ANP which I believe is a supermarket. Well A&P is the supermarket but when you ANP it sounds like A&P.

What does LBS stand for?
lbs is the abbreviation for pounds as in weight.

I could not figure it out either until I read your post. I always had the initials CAT and very rare that it was an issue. I say use the names, not a big deal!

That is not bad at all...imagine if the initals were A.S.S.; GAY (I do know someone with these initials), BAD....LBS is not bad at all

I don't pay too much attention to initials. our son's initials are RCA - if you like the name, go with it. don't worry about what others will think of initials and such
