I don't know if you can buy single couches at Bob's Furniture Store but they sell full sets for $1000 so I would think you could find a sofa for $500.
Ikea or Levitts (they are having 30%-60% off because they are going out of business)

IKEA kipplin sofa with a washable cover. we have 2.... one I've owned for 6 years. they're durable, comfortable and very inexpensive

watch out for levitz we bought from hufman koos going out of business sale- frame broke(due to dh larger cousin) and manufacturer would not honor claim due to liquidation sale. then Guardsman which they got us to buy would not honor it since the manufact was not honoring it.........

We bought a leather set from Bob's and we are very happy with it. Jennifer Convertible also has some inexpensive sofa's.

Check out buying from North Carolina. I recently got 2 Broyhill 3 cushion sofas from blacksfurniture.com and I think they were $465 each. The price varies depending on what fabric you select. I got mine in microfiber, which I think is probably the cheapest. I saw the same Broyhill couches in local stores and they were at least $800 each.
