a bed time question for twin mommies

my DS and DD are adjusted age 41/2 mos. Do you rock them to sleep or put them in their cribs while they are still awake but somewhat ready to go to sleep? My husband works 24hrs shifts so the nights when he is gone I feel bad putting them in awake but I can't rock or walk both of them at the same time (I can do it but it is not comfy for them). Just curious to see what everyone does

Re: a bed time question for twin mommies

we put them to bed awake....sometimes they fall asleep quick, other times they will talk back and forth to each other for a half hour or so and then go down.
I have a cd that I also play.

Same here. Same time every night, same routine so they know it's bedtime.

omg..you brought back memories...
I had to take care of both when they were infants...
I would put one in a bouncer rock with my foot and hold the other...ha
and the feedings..oy.
it goes so quickly though.
Now.i give them a bottle and the watch a show in a boppy and when Jake falls asleep I move him into his crib.
max sleeps for now downstairs with me to get him on a better schedule..(not working...ha)
but I love sleeping in front of the fireplace...
or I move him up when he falls alseep.
for me..they were only on the same schedule when they were born then nada/.

In bed awake. Same time - keep on a routine, I lived by it.

their cribs are the same way minus the noise machine, we do put a humidier on though.

Re: a bed time question for twin mommies

I have always put my girls to sleep awake and let them fall out on their own. I was always told that I should let them learn how to soothe themselves. It has worked. They are going to be 2 years old and they go to bed for the most part at 7:30 and sleep through the night.
