C-section question

I didn't realize you still bleed after having a c-section and need those huge pads. Do you need them for many days or just the first few? Did you need to wear one home or just a pantyliner?

Re: C-section question

I bled for a few weeks after my c-section. It's pretty heavy for the first week or 2, so you're going to need more than just a panty liner.

You cannot use a tampon till first AF afterwards.

I used the pads for about 3-4 weeks...

I bled heavily for about 3 weeks after m,y c/s...then moved on to a lighter pad.

Re: C-section question

I think I wore them for at least a week or so after I came home. And then about 2 weeks later I started bleeding again for a few days. (My doc said I was trying to do too much!)

I bleed really bad for at least 2 weeks. I had to use those huge pads the entire time. Luckily the nurses in the hospital gave me a ton of them so I was coveredChat Icon

Re: C-section question

After the c-section I needed the big pads for about 4 days, then I used panty liners for about 2 weeks. I hardly had any bleeding.

Re: C-section question

I bled just as much with a c/s as I did with a vbirth. I also thought it would be different, I never even thought to ask.

Re: C-section question

I bled for 3 weeks and only needed the big ones for the first week, and then I switched back to regular ones. Everyone's body is different, but a pantyliner definitely won't cut it at first.

Re: C-section question

I didn't bleed much at all after my c-section, I used the hospital pads but didn't like them to much. I also EBF so I didn't get my first period back till I was 6 months PP. If your going to BF you wont bleed as much.

That wasn't true for me. I bled heavily for about 3 weeks after my c-section and I EBF. I also got AF 6 weeks PP.

ETA: I still EBF and get AF regularly
