Feeding schedule?

I am told I have to feed her every 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. DD is 8 weeks old.

Is this from the start of the feeding, or the end of each feeding?Chat Icon Chat Icon

Like, if she started to eat at 10am, does that mean her next is about 1 pm, or 1:30 pm because it takes her 1/2 hour to eat?

Thanks!

Re: Feeding schedule?

I do the start of the feeding (ex: 10 then 1 for the next feeding)..if the feeding goes more than 1/2 hour then it kind of interferes with the next feeding, so it should only take about 20-30 minutes. (this is what the nurses in the NICU taught us when DS was in there)

Re: Feeding schedule?

i was told to go by the start of the feeding. My DD is also 8 weeks but she feeds every 3-4 hours. I was told she should be feeding every 3-5 hours

wow! is that true for breastfed babies as well? She NEVER goes beyond 3.5 hrs (if i count from start). I can't immagine 5 hrs!Chat Icon

I count from the start of the feeding. DS eats every 4 hours, 5 if it's a long nap, since before he was 8 weeks.
