question for real estate agents / brokers

These are general questions to get a feel for how the agencies work:

Generally, do REAs / brokers employed by an agency get a salary + commissions or do they work for commission only?

Generally, do REAs / brokers employed by an agency receive benefits through their employer?

What "benefits" do you get through your employer? (Cell phone? Etc.?)

My guess is that it's basically a commission-fee structure and all the agency provides is the building, copier, etc. -- and from there you are basically running your own gig and taking a share in the sales commission. However, that's just my guess, and I'd like some more insight, if you're willing to provide it. Chat Icon

Re: question for real estate agents / brokers

As a REA, you are an independent contractor. You are not employed by the broker. You make comission only. You split your comission with your broker. You broker does not provide benefits. None at all. You are responsible for any costs, cell phone, computer, gas, advertising, etc.
Your guess on the way it is run is pretty much correct.
