I was mean today!!

not to the kids, but to one of our specialists. In the beginning of Oct. I referred a child to the OT, she came and observed him for all of a minute, and said she will get some stuff together for me. Well at Christmastime she came up and said that she was just about finished writing the report and she would get it to me....well fast forward to today...no report. This morning I passed her in the hall and I say, so what is going on with so and so....she starts rambling on about how its just about ready...blah blah blah. So I tell her, not for nothing but I brought this to your attention in October and it is now almost Feburary. So she begins saying well I am having issues with my family my parents were sick, blah, blah, blah. So my response was, Well this children come first!! and I walked away!! I guess it worked because I had the report on my desk by the afternoon!! Only problem now, is I completely don't agree with it

I know that must be frustrating...

...the only thing I CAN say is that I kinda know what she's going through. I am SOOOO overwhelmed this year with the sheer amount of work I've had to get done. I will admit that referring a child for testing has had to wait more than once because I just don't have the RIDICULOUS amount of time required to sit there and fill out all of the paperwork.

That said--I'm a first-year teacher here in NC, and it's quite different than it was teaching in NY. I keep telling myself things will be better next year.
