Re: Fresh String Beans

I make a recipe pretty much identical to this one..(this one is from Food Network..Im to lazy to type it up)

Sesame Green Beans
1 1/2 pounds green beans, washed and trimmed
1 tablespoon wok or vegetable oil, 1 turn of the pan in a slow stream
1 teaspoon dark sesame oil, several drops or a drizzle
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds (a handful)
Coarse salt

Steam green beans covered in 1/2-inch boiling water for 2 minutes. Transfer beans to a colander and run under cold water. Drain well.
Heat a wok shaped skillet or large nonstick frying pan over high heat. Go once-around-the-pan with wok or vegetable oil, add several drops sesame oil, and crushed pepper flakes. The pan will smoke. Add beans and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Add sesame seeds and coarse salt and toss to coat beans evenly

I also make a greenbean and bacon soup that is out of this world. It's hungarian and was my grandmothers recipe...it's greenbeans cooked in chicken broth that you add sour cream to..if you are interested FM me and I'll type up the recipe.

Re: Fresh String Beans

I trim the ends and then boil them until they are soft but not mushy - drain them and then add olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, black pepper and a lot of garlic powder

Re: Fresh String Beans

I heat olive oil in a pan w/a little salt. Get oil hot, toss them in until they are bright green and then add breadcrumbs & parm cheese.

I trim the ends, boil them for about 3 minutes, drain them, then add them to a frying pan w/ olive oil & sauteed garlic. Sprinkle w/ Parmesan cheese & saute for another 3-4 minutes.
