Just trim the bottoms Chat Icon I think peeling them would make them too mushy for my taste.

I break off the woody ends. The tough ends snap right off.

I do this too, I throw the bottoms that don't snap any further out

I think it's unanimous. I trim the bottoms also. Rachael Ray recommends saving those bottoms to make soup.
